Another Trade Down Idea

Description
(IF) the Devils win the lottery and BUF is interested in moving up, I'd trade #1 down with BUF for #9, #16, & #32

I've seen 2 different Pick Value charts (The Athletics' & some others on google) but I'm thinking this is close to equal from a pick-value perspective:

NJD Trades: #1, #37
BUD Trades: #9, #16, #32

Devils can now have a little more flexibility trying to trade for roster players with multiple 1sts.

The year we had 3 1st round picks...I think it was smart using each pick to draft someone and build up our prospect pool a little, but now I think having 3 1sts will allow us to trade for those roster guys without having to solely touch our prospect pool.

And yes, winning the lottery is so much easier said then done, but just an intriguing concept. Not sure if this would suit BUF's needs though.

Just draft Wright. Kick him or Jack out to the wing or just have a very deep 3 centers. Not understanding all these Devils fans basically hoping they don't win the lottery

This honestly scares me because of who may be available at 9 or 16.... id say drop 16 and 37 from new jersey, and add buffs 38 this year and best of 3 second round picks next year. Probs not enough tho

Adding 37OA in makes it much more palatable for Buffalo. Three top forty picks instead of four is fine. I doubt there's a substantial drop-off on the Sabres' draft board between 32OA and 37OA, but there's probably quite a gap between 9OA and #1. Maybe even big enough to make it worth #16 and five slots at the end of the first round.

Buffalo might not take Wright, tho.

#1 = 17.7
#37 = 2.3
BUF gets = 20.0

#9 = 6.3
#16 = 4.7
#32 = 2.7
NJD gets = 13.7

Difference is 6.3 (equivalent to #9 overall pick)

Another idea....(if we don't win lottery)

#5 = 8.2
#37 = 2.3
#101 = 0.5
BUF gets = 11.0

#9 = 6.3
#16 = 4.7
NJD gets = 11.0

for the Sabres, i'd personally want the 3 first round talents filling out holes in the roster, than 1 home run pick.

You figure those out over time and take BPA every time in the top 5. Devils aern't winning a cup next year anyways so what does it matter.

I would do it, if Wright is the real deal as advertised. Sabres need to added top talent over depth. It's getting crowded with NHL ready prospect on ELC.

If he buys in. Though i think a team of good players is better than a team of one line and no cap space

This make no sense for Buffalo.
Buffalo will win the over all draft lottery, Vegas will also win and their pick will be 11th OA (any lower and the pick shifts to 2023) and Washington will knock out Florida and their pick will fall to 25th OA.
The stars are all aligned and this coming draft, Buffalo will have the 1st, 11th and 25th OA.

Then I wished upon a star and:
Thompson, Skinner, Olofsson and Quinn all score 40 goals.
Dahlin and Power run first and second in Norris voting.
Tuch wins the Hart
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen wins the Vezina
Thompson wins the Ted Lindsey
Quinn gets more votes than Power and wins the Calder
Asplund noses out Girgensons and wins the Selke
Okposo wins the Mark Messier
Granato wins the Jack Adams

Awesome. Sounds like we can sit out this draft entirely. 😎👍
