I don’t think Trotz is a contenders coach, he’s good for an expansion team or a team filled with middle pair defenseman and 3rd liners

Trotz was a good fit for that team. I'm not saying they'd have lost w/o him, but he did win in WASH. And nobody can ever take that away from him. And Lou was the guy who brought in Greene and Chara. Trotz was just executing the organization's game plan. It's easy to hate on the coach, but Lou is the architect.

See I think that the Jets might be a good fit for him. They need structure and discipline, especially on the defensive side of the puck. Scheifele in particular needs a wake-up call.

Not going to blame Trots, but GMs do tend to bring in players that match the coaches play style. Trots likely recommended players or play types and Lou did his best to get him that

This is a switch up from the Trotz discussion, but I’d like to point out, now that I finally found the stats, that Laviolette and Orlov have helped turn Nick Jensen into a whole different defenseman. He might be the under the radar MVP of the Capitals season, though Kuznetsov, Orlov, and a couple others could challenge him.

Tonight's Predictions: Even-up Day 2.0

FLA over WASH 5-2 (w/ 2 EN; Bennett 1G/1A).
NYR over PIT 4-1 (Igor is sharp w/37 Saves; Fox has 3A)
COL over NSH 6-3 (Mikko scores a deuce - sends the Preds to the golf course).
CGY over. DAL 3-2 (Tkachuk scores OTGWG).

Since I'm going to the Caps game, I'm trying one of those reverse jinx deals. Go Caps!!!

Exactly - back when Trotz was the coach in Nashville Poille drafted and signed the type of player Trotz wanted. The thing with the isles is the guys who aren’t “Trotz guys” like Barzal, Wahlstrom Dobson etc are the key to the isles success
