That's an interesting trade but a cup hopeful can't count on an 18 year old to step into the top four immediately

yea we could try him out for 9 games or whatever and if he doesn't look ready we can just call up Addison and rotate him with Gologoski on second pair.

If Jiricek is there, i can’t see Ottawa trading it. Only if Savoie, Nazar are there they trade it.

fair enough, this trade assumes it happens before draft. I just used a random mock from the forums and chose between whoever was left after 6 lol.

Why is Nazar ranked so low in central scouting, but everyone is in love with him

Same reason Rossi dropped. I think he has a lot of potential but boom or bust . Doesn’t seem like a guy that teams scouts fall in love with.

Can’t see Juricik getting past Columbus at 6, a RHD is their biggest need, so Juricik probably goes there, unless Nemec is available at 6, but I currently have him at 3.

Honestly, even though RHD is a definite need for us we shouldn't be targeting Jiricek if we have that pick.

Instead, we should be targeting one of Savoie, Lambert, Kemell or Slafkovsky. While it's highly unlikely any of them become as good or better than Fiala. They are absolutely who we should be targeting.

Savoie and Lambert still have potential as top-six centers or are wingers at a minimum. Kemell is basically a Finnish Boldy and Slafkovsky is Fiala-lite. After moving Fiala, that should be our primary focus. I trust Brackett to pick up a solid RHD prospect later in the draft and work on our depth in that area given we'll have either three 2nds to work with or a low 1st and two 2nds.

Use those picks to build up RHD depth. Use that Ottawa pick to grab a high-end center/winger prospect instead.

I like Fiala's game but that next contract is going to be massive, would make much more sense for Ottawa to keep the pick nad use that player on their ELC.

That’s the comparable play style . Who knows if he’ll reach that potential but he’s going at 3 or 4 imo

Predicting the conditions of the Fleury deal are met of course (first round pick goes to Chicago if Fleury picks up 4 wins and Minnesota makes conference finals).
