I wouldn't make the trade if Smith is involved.

I'm on the fence about whether I'd do it 1-for-1. It also really contradicts Fitz's “Too much of the same up front” comment. Fiala is an insanely similar player to Bratt.

I'm giving up Smith in a second for a player like Fiala. Honestly, I don't even want Smith in the lineup next year and I was one of his biggest defenders all this year. I just see him taking the same path as Will Butcher

Smith and Gallagher are good friends
Maybe a swap 1 for 1 with Jordan Harris ?

That's fine, I think Smith is on the outs a bit too. Doesn't mean he's a throw-in for a trade.

Fiala can't drive a line just sign a FA instead of giving up your top 5 pick

I like smith’s upside but I don’t see a fit on the Wild’s blue line. Zacha doesn’t make sense either as a piece for money and positional reasons. If I’m the Wild, my must have is Mercer even if it means they don’t get the early 22 1st.

Wild are never getting Mercer in a Fiala trade.
They don't have the leverage to swing that kinda return.
Don't think that Wild are in a position to get 5th overall for Fiala either.

You don’t? I’m not saying it’s a no brainer but that’s who I would target. Mercer has top 6 upside. Fiala is a top line forward. Those are very different things and I more wonder if NJD thinks of Mercer as a wing or a C.
