Why do Habs fans have such a high value connected to Petry? A player that is 3 more years at that price.

He had an amazing second half under MSL. Perpetual 40+ pts defensemen. He's awesome. I know it's hard to suspend disbelief... But he's gonna score 40+ pts again next year.

His dip was entirely caused by personal crisis related to Covid and that's why we value him. He's so incredibly worth it and we would keep him if his wife wasn't crazy.

Flyers trade young goalie in Hart for a D who had a terrible first half and is on his way out of the league?

Maybe Hart for Petry half retained, 2023 first and one of Montembeault or Primeau

Not ever sure that will get it done

So Flyers are going to give up a young starter for a D whose game is affected by his crazy wife?

His wife took the kids and left Canada because of Covid restrictions and their inability to get any help from family support. It's really an isolated incident...

I would argue that Montreal is one of the greatest cities in North America one can live in and anyone who does not want to live here, especially if you are in any way associated with the Canadiens, is completely and totally nuts. This city treats Petry like Royalty!

Even if you guarantee petry will be a 40 point 2-way defenseman next year it’s still brutal for Philly. Hart still has a ton of potential and throwing that away for a 34 year old with 6.25 AAV for multiple seasons? The fall off could happen at anytime (it actually already has but in your pretend reality we will say he bounces back next year).

Way to high risk for Philly. Makes 0 sense

That is quite possibly the dumbest trade for Philly I have ever seen. Why on earth would Philly trade their young goalie with immense potentially for an old defenseman on a bad contract who can fall off at a moments notice? You would have to put a 2023 unprotected first of your 2022 first for the Flyers to consider this

Add three firsts to that before Philly starts to consider it
