Hard to gauge the value for Boeser considering the $7.5M Q.O.

Any counters you think make sense?

Canucks likely only move Boeser if they get a (not too old) top 4 RHD or good RHD prospect back. Not sure if Lundkvist would cut it, but don’t see the Rangers giving up Schneider, so not sure if there’s a deal to be made here

Trouba?

Lol, why would Trouba waive his NMC to go anywhere else? Doesn't his wife work/study in New York?

She's almost done with it, don't see an issue.

Trouba?

Doubt Trouba waives his NMC for Vancouver, and even if he did his combination of age + contract is not really what the Canucks are looking for (unless OEL goes back in exchange)

if im VAN then i would take boeser deal. you get 2 opportunities to draft 2dman. maybe someone falls to them in the draft.

Yeah, I take this if negotiations with Boeser get sour at all, even if we aren't receiving an asset to fill a position of weakness immediately

Sabres decline

Nemeth is a depth defenseman, bottom pair at best
If we were looking for that, I’d think we’d just resign Pysyk,
who played fairly well for us
We also have young defensemen in Bryson & Fitzgerald, who- for the most part- did not look out of place on the bottom pair

If we were to forget a defenseman….
it would very likely be a top4 type, which would then push either Samuelsson (another youngster who’s looked very good) or Jokiharju down to the bottom pair
So i just don’t see how Nemeth would be even remotely considered by the Sabres, especially considering he’s left handed, since we’re absolutely loaded on that side

As for Georgiev, it’s another situation where he’s not a fit for what we are looking for
And that’s if we considered him to be a good player, which he’s not (and I’ve been saying that for a couple seasons now)

Sure, he came into the league with a bang showing promise
But that promise is long gone imo
His save percentage has declined EVERY season in his 5years in the league (which is hard to do btw), culminating with a brutal .898save% this season

Even if we thought a change of pace could/would do him good,
we just aren’t in the position to take on that type of goalie
We have a young & promising goalie in UPL, who has a .913save% in his (very) short time appearing in the NHL

So bc he’s not a sure thing by any means, he’s gonna be best slotted in as our “1b” goalie
Now if we didn’t have him, Georgiev could be worth the risk in a “1b” role for someone, but that’s just not at all what we are looking for
We’re looking for a “1a” type, who can hold down the fort & be a mentor to our youth we have in the goaltending ranks (UPL, Devon Levi & Erik Portillo)

And Georgiev simply does not fill that role whatsoever

I know it’s only a 4th that you’re asking….
but like I’ve explained, it’s just not a fit for what we’re looking for
So i think the only way we’d consider it is if we struck out on multiple other targets we’d be trying to acquire

*i know you’re a bit of a Sabres fan, and fairly knowledgeable about them, which is why i went into such depth with my response about the trade

Nemeth wouldn't be of interest. Not totally against georgiev, I wouldn't hate giving him a shot, but I certainly wouldn't lean on him in any way. Basically this trade is about clearing cap and contracts for the Rangers, but there isn't enough there for buffalo to help them out.

If NYR were looking to move him now, I could see BUFF being a great fit

For him- he'd jump into a leadership role on a team with a bright future ....surrounded by young stud Dmen as well numerous high end forwards. And if his wife's residency is a question- not too far from home- and how much longer could that be? she started when he got here 3 years ago. (believe most residencies are 3 yrs)

BUFF- would get a physical RHD to lock down their top 4, providing the physicality and leadership which could really help the young guys in their continued development.

Problem is: NYR are not yet ready to move him. Schneider may be envisioned as eventual #2 RD...but he is still a newbie. And everything that Trouba could be for BUF, he is here with NYR- which is already a "contender"...so there really is no reason at the moment for NYR or Trouba to WANT to change anything right now....this will probably change over the next 2 years though- as players develop and NYR need for CAP space becomes more urgent...which will also coincide with his NMC loosening. At that point- I guess if BUF still needs what Trouba can offer, maybe a move there is possible...but more likely the cities off his no trade list will be those where he sees life after hockey- playing Mr Mom while his wife makes the big bucks!

Edm would say no cause of cap. Holloway has a very high ceiling and basically is a top 6 F at league min.

Trouba doesn't waive his NMC for Dallas, Nor does Kreider waive his NMC for Edmonton. Both aren't going anywhere for at least 2 more seasons.

Trouba won’t waive. And if he did I’d want some salary going the other way in the deal. Prospect swap makes way more sense

I'd also like to see that, Don't see why buffalo would be an issue? He stays in state with his infamous pre-med wife.

Why does salary need to go the other way. Sabres need to spend 20mill just to get to the floor, and next year it's more. He has 3yrs left on his contract. Perfect timing for Power and Dahlin contracts

Be a nice finishing touch to the top 4 and Joker can drop to 3rd pair. Plus he brings a little toughness to the backend

That's not a bad 6, shame. Really pissed about this Johnson situation, obviously he doesn't want to be here, got a spot staring him in the face. I would be calling LA and seeing if they want to swap Johnson with Grans. Both positional strengths for both teams LD-RD, and then Daddy can hold his hand in LA

Love Grans, but honestly hope it's just smoke and he signs. Kevyn Adams seemed to be optimistic in the closing interviews.
