I don't think Habs would be interested without sending cap back. Hoffman (unlikely) or Armia would have to go the other way.

Don't think the Blues would be interested in Brannstorm. They already have small D in Krug and Perunovich. Blues decline

That's a good point, don't disagree

So ...

1. Ottawa's 1st round pick for the upcoming draft, regardless of what happens at the lottery tomorrow

AND

2. Connor Brown

for Kevin Fiala and a low 4th round pick.

Do you realize how badly Ottawa is getting fleeced here??

Arizona would be the only team that would want Zaitsev. They would probably want a 2nd round pick too.

It's Kevin Fiala, dude. He just scored 85 points after starting slow.

So, basically, you wouldn't feel you got fleeced if you traded Shane Wright AND Connor Brown for Kevin Fiala and a 4th round pick?

Am I reading that right?

Shane Wright? What are you talking about? Just assume you're not winning the lottery tomorrow in this instance, it's not that hard.

Alright, so it's a Top 10 pick for the upcoming draft + Brown for Fiala.

You're still getting fleeced.

Minnesota won’t have the cap space to take on Browns contract, if a deal for Fiala comes about between the Sens and Wild it would likely involve the 2022 1st and a prospect.

Sens pick might actually drop to 8th OVR which is right around where the dropoff in talent is.

At 8th overall, Ottawa would pick one of Kemell/Nazar/Lekkerimaki/Yurov/Lambert.

You're still getting fleeced.

I do not believe 8 years of Fiala for any of those prospects + one year of Brown is a fleecing. Agree to disagree I suppose.

Maybe ... just maybe ... Brown would sign an extension with Ottawa before next year's trade deadline?

Our 1st round pick alone is more than enough for Fiala.

Brown is our best defensive forward by far.

We can't really afford to lose him unless another team overpays for him.

How about this? I know Sokolov is pretty high on the prospect list, but I feel like Minnesota would want someone cheap that is ready to come into their lineup now. Kinda makes the cap tight for next year but you have Hamonic, MDZ, Holden and Watson coming off the books and can likely clear more as well.

The last time the 7th overall pick was traded away was in the Derek Stepan trade to Arizona.

Rangers got 7th OA + DeAngelo while Coyotes got Stepan + Raanta.

Is there another roster player that Minnesota could maybe part ways with?

And that would interest Ottawa?

The trade could be 7th OA + Sokolov for Fiala + ??

I don't think that's a good comparison imo. I also don't think you need a roster player in exchange, especially if you're not giving up Brown. Look at my 23-24 Sens.
