Quoting: SociallyHawkward
What's the point of trading debrincat for 2OA? Hoping you draft someone that can be as good as debrincat in 5 years? Hawks haven't had the best record when it comes to developing their players lately
Trading Debrincat to embrace the tank would be a mistake, IMO. As a thought exercise, I went back to see how many teams that won the draft lottery used that player to win a cup as a part of their core group of guys. Would you like to know the last team to do so?

The lightning, with Stamkos. And it took luck with Kucherov falling, with Point falling, another pick with Vasilevsky.
Before that, it was Ovechkin, and then Crosby, and then the Hawks.
My point being, the fastest turnaround time in the cap era was (the Hawks) when there was a foundation established before winning the lottery. Kane and Toews came and won in 3 years. And then kept winning. The same thing with Crosby and the Pens. They had a foundation to build upon for when Malkin Crosby and Letang were drafted. After acquiring Ovi, without said foundation, it took the Caps 15 years. It took the Lightning 10 years. My point of all this, being, that trading away the foundation (Debrincat) that our future core will be added to will be futile and will not lead to long term success (see Oilers)
