Realistically, I'm not sure he's worth a top 10 pick as others have commented on this board. He's a great player, but his contract status combined with Minnesota's cap issues give them very little leverage in negotiations.

It can be done. Guerin has options and isn't backed into a corner as much as everyone wants to believe he is. Furthermore the player in question has desired a long-term contract for the last 4 years. With multiple teams bidding for his rights. That not only helps Guerin get back more, but it helps Fiala sign more on his next contract if he's willing to sign long-term with multiple teams too.

I'm sure we'd do it. We need to move out a defenseman contract anyway.
