Winnipeg has no need for left shot forwards in their bottom 6.

Apparently one out of a million different options to get to the cap floor costs a 2nd round pick. I am sure he is basing this off of many many trades like this that have occurred in the past.

Putting aside their offensive production (because over his career Olofsson is a 0.66-point-per-game player and Kempe is a half-a-point-a-game player), Kempe is an all-around, 200-foot player who is one of the four primary penalty killers the Kings use. Olofsson is the worst defensive forward you guys have.

The Kings are no longer in need of futures, even firsts, unless the cost isn't a top-6 forward or top-4 defenseman. And given Todd McLellan's play structure, Olofsson is a poor fit for Los Angeles.

Disagree that he is our worst defensive forward but again even if he was I am sure the 16th overall pick would be more than enough to cover the difference. If he means that much to the kings I am sure they keep him. Wonder what the price in your mind would be for him? probably power dahlin and cozens and maybe the 9th?

If you have better options that cost less without costing as much in real money, then by all means go ahead and trade for them but the fact is Weber's cap hit is valuable to teams looking to hit the cap floor without spending too much real money, there are not too many contracts like his out there that come with that sort of structure. Rare things (even contracts) often cost more to acquire than common, garden variety things. It is the laws of supply and demand.

The only deal that makes sense for Los Angeles is Quinn, Samuelsson and the Las Vegas pick. Exchanging one roster player for another is a poor strategy even if we pick up a first because we already know how Kempe fits our team and don't know how the incoming player would. But two A prospects that address our two primary weaknesses would be worth the risk.

Have you lost your mind? Cus I'll help you find it. Quinn Samuelsson and the Vegas pick would fetch a far better return than that, if those players were even remotely available from the sabres

This is already a significant over pay, and I dont really see why Buffalo would do it. You instead want to take Buffalo's best forward prospect and break out defensive prospect (who was on the top pair with Dahlin), thats pretty greedy

Apparently neither of you is literate in English. I said that "the only deal that makes sense for Los Angeles is Quinn, Samuelsson and the Las Vegas pick" (in partial reply to the OP's snotty suggestion in Comment #9 that I "probably" valued Kempe as worth "power dahlin and cozens and maybe the 9th" overall pick). My point was that the price for Buffalo specifically would be more than the Sabres would or should pay. The whole idea of trading Kempe is silly. And neither one of you seems to understand the difference between player and prospect, either.

how does that make us illiterate? You clarified your statement by doubling down on it. Not only that I was pretty clear saying the OPs trade offer was too much, nullifying your point to start

Better options than Weber - Dadonov, Hornquist, Monahan, Dumba.
