If Kuzmenko Chooses Carolina

Created by: Hockyluv21

Initial Creation Date: May 11, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would not be against a big, 1 year flyer on Mason Marchment. Such a deal could be appealing for both parties for numerous reasons. If Marchment has another huge season, he could get a massive payday from somebody.

Zero chance Marchment gets 7.5 for 54 games of great play on a stacked team.

Clearly Carolina does, at least long-term. Not sure if they throw him right into the fire, but having Teravainen as your wing would not be a bad way to start.

I think that $7.5M for one year is a possibility. Not on a multi-year deal, though, I 100% agree. As proven by KK, Carolina is willing to spend high on one-year fliers.

That is a terrible trade for Carolina for Chychrun. Too much for Chychrun. A 1 year deal at 7.5 for Marchement, no thanks. Canes are resigning Nino, and when has Kuzmenko even been rumored to be in on Carolina. Pretty sure DeAngelo gets signed at a 2x2 or a 3x3, but who knows. I do think Raanta gets traded in offseason to allow Kochetkov to backup Andersen. Although, I do like that 3rd pairing.

0 chance deangelo sign for that low.he his arbitration eligible so he will get paid even if carolina tries to lowball him. he alsoproven in the past money is important qhe he refused to terminate his contract last year.

My thought, personally, is 3 years at the (old) Dougie cap hit.

I knew someone was going to make that argument. I do think DeAngelo can make an argument for that money, but I would make the counterpoint that with this being his potentially final landing spot, and his burning of 3 bridges elsewhere. Very few if any teams are going to take a chance on DeAngelo without having someone like Rod on the bench and a locker room full of players who won’t tolerate anyone being a cancer. Why else do you think Haula was ran out of town so quick? He knows that this could be his last stop, and he will probably do anything to keep his spot in the NHL. He has been good for the Canes, but I still think there is some skepticism about him. But hey, it’s not my job to sign him, and what I think isn’t necessarily what Waddell will think. I think he signs a low risk high reward with a small buyout contract, like a 2x2 or a 3x3, but that’s just my opinion. Whether that happens or not, I don’t know. But I digress.

i respect your opininon! i can tell you that mine differ from yours and its ok. we'll know for sure once it happens! i believe hockey is a business in the end. im sure there is a few market who will have nothing to do with deangelo, but i think many would and i think there is many team that have leadership just like the cane does that he would fit well in. i also think this qualifie more fore a low risk, low reward than high reward, but i also digress!
