Not a sexy bunch of changes like Fiala or a VAN forward, but more so minimal changes that impact many teams.
Arizona adds roster players, Devils just move on from Zacha. No more VAN trades with Zacha in them, he just gets a new start elsewhere.
Florida is going to have to make some trades if they want to hold onto a few of their UFAs, so I imagine Hornqvist and Gudas are shipped out. Devils get a physical 3rd RHD to at least take up PK and shutdown time. If it doesn't work out, he's shipped out again for a potential similar price.
The biggest move is getting Barry Trotz as HC and Mitch Korn as goalie coach and bringing in a veteran 1A/B in Lehner. Things seem to have gotten personal in Vegas, and he may just need to get out as Vegas goes BACK to spending cash and gets Husso or Campbell. Devils send out (as of the last Scott Wheeler prospect list) the Devils 4th (TT), 9th (GC), 13th (AS) and 14th (NO) ranked prospects. This cheap talent, at the very least TT can be a bottom six guy, and the others call ups, just do Vegas the favor of finding a home he might like with his former goalie coach to make it easier to trade him with his M-NTC as he could easily list teams that need a goalie.
I'm sure Fitz would love to dump Tatar or Johnsson, they could provide a team like SEA, SJS, or even CHI some sense of depth scoring for a really limited return, but he may also aim to ride it out. Would be nice to get Foote more time, but it’s their end. I didn’t figure it was worth showing the lineup with one of them gone for a 5th. If they can’t keep up, bench them and next man up.
I'm not at all on the side of those that want a big time UFA forward. I'm a UFA conservative....most blow up on teams. After winning the 2nd overall pick, this is a team that could have Slaf-Hughes-Mercer, Bratt-Hischier-Holtz all in top 6. If you want to add a veteran, I'm cool with Hornqvist or someone else expiring if you want someone with rings in the room.
Getting GOOD coaching, GOOD goaltending, and a growing team puts them in the hunt.
Oh, I also sign Siegenthaler to as 5yr extension on July 1st
I agree with most of the commentary at the top.
We shouldn't go for big fish winger. Not really needed.
Coaching needs to change (maybe not Lindy, but some elements of the approach)
Be patient, be conservative.
I would nitpick on a few items:
1. We should not give up on Zacha. At all. Ignore where he was drafted. 25-years old is old on our team, but young on many others. Should Islanders give up on Beauvillier? Should Stars give up on Gurianov? Many are talking about Lawson Crouse getting a 1st+ over the summer, and he didn't really outproduce Zacha. Look what Sam Bennett got last year...no reason Zacha cannot return that if we trade him.
2. Johnsson should be kept if roster spot is there, Tatar should not be.
3. On the secondary prospects...I think Okhotiuk could be above Bahl. Keep him.

I also like Okhotiuk more than Bahl . His agility, skating & positioning is way better and he has all kinds of physicality.
