again. if the Wild can extend Fiala and not trade him, they should. They shouldn't even think about trade returns. If they are trading him, its because they can't and Guerin will absolutely be getting some "scrap" offers.

Ok

32 teams don’t have the requirements to offer sheet Fiala, it’s actually 31 teams but you said 32. There is maybe 2-3 teams that can realistically offer sheet him and my guess is he won’t want to go to any of those teams because they probably aren’t very good.

If Fiala only wants to be traded to one certain team then Guerin controls the price. If the other team doesn’t meet Guerin’s price then he can choose to extend Fiala himself or let him get offer sheeted.

They don’t have to offersheet him in order to talk to him. Once he is an RFA he can go around and talk to teams about anything, just like he were a UFA.

And if Fiala says there is one team he is willing to extend with, Guerin would not set the price. It would be a monopsony, single-buyer would set price.

Fiala can’t talk to teams until July 9th, so no, you’re wrong.

The buyer doesn’t get to set the price if the seller has the option to retain his asset. This is all simple economics.

Ottawa won’t trade their first either. They aren’t good enough to make a move like this.

Ottawa is open and ready to make a trade like this. The 7th OA pick is available. Sokolov is a fan favorite prospect but with the log jam coming up it will be very hard to make the team anyway. They can afford to move him

If they make this trade, they could literally have this forward group :

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Stutzle - Fiala
Formenton - Pinto - Brown
Joseph - White - Watson
Crookshank - Kastelic - Kelly

I know some will say Joseph, Brown or Formenton are more proven than Greig for that LW spot, which is true but I think this kid makes the team and never looks back.
