Jets Decline
Dubois isn’t available and this isn’t even close for him if he were

True habs fans don’t want Dubois. Plus I don’t know any reason you’d think this would be even remotely enough

So you think that Cheveldayoff wants to keep him through a rebuild ? Right now what is the habs offer that would make you say yes ?

Jets arent rebuilding. If they would trade Dubois it would be for a C prospect, pick 28, 2nd and 3rd. no value for a young top 6 C

I have no reason to think this is enough hence why I asked jets fans opinion… And last year there was rumours that he was going to Montreal and I was opposed to that but as time passes I think he’s build to play alongside Suzuki and Caufield. Right now Wright will be alone in the 2nd line if we don’t get a good enough winger. I wouldn’t say no to 2 great power forwards in PLD and Anderson in our top 6.

Jets have no desire to rebuild, in fact Cheveldayoff said they expect to be a cap team next year.

If MTL wanted Dubois it would take a major overpayment as he’s a cornerstone piece and only 23. Even if they rebuilt they would keep him through it as he’s so young.

I mean Wheeler is on the decline, Scheifele apparently wants out and the rest of team is aging I think it would be a great idea to think of a rebuild. They’re at the same position as Montreal 4 years ago but I don’t think another pandemic is on the way to bail the jets the same way it bailed out the habs. And the trade you proposed is a done deal imo… You can pick the one you want between Mysak,Kidney,Kapanen,Poelhing I would even be ready to give up Farrell

If Cheveldayoff doesn’t want to rebuild then it’s his choice but I certainly doesn’t agree with him

Nope… 1st overall certainly stays in Montreal especially considering where the draft takes place. Dvorak and a B piece like Ylonen/Farrell would be good for me but just for Dubois not the 14th pick (obviously)

The point is it that Duby isnt being moved. Unless MTL does something stupid like this

Acquiring a top-6 C and then playing him on the wing is just asinine. And Wright will be just fine playing 3rd line C until he’s ready for a bigger role. Dvorak is more than serviceable until that point.

The jets don’t need to rebuild, they have the pieces, just need to make it fit. A solid coaching staff is the first step. A retool definitely could happen. But they won’t be rebuilding, unless they stink again next year and then rebuild and trade out hellebuyck, scheifele and a few others as their deals will expire.

Okay then makes sense that a team wants to hold on to their best player if they don’t wanna go through a rebuild… Fair enough, no way we give another team Wright

I know he’s gonna be great and so is Dvorak but we need better wingers other than Anderson right now there’s Pitlick but is he really ever gonna play for 82 games like last year?

Fair enough on Winnipeg side but Dubois sure isn’t gonna decline the opportunity to play in Montreal

The quote said he isn't looking to be moved.

Do the offer sheet. That would be more interesting.

What? You want a quality player that a Winnipeg has no reason to trade, you need to give up a quality player. Why would the Jets take a pile of nothing?

Ehhhhh not sure Hughes wanna go where Bergevin went… but if I’m correct an offer sheet would give you 2023 draft pick?! If so then that’s more than enough to say no imagine seeing the pick transform in Bédard 😬

So a 1st 2nd 3rd and b prospects are pile of nothing? Maybe but Suzuki is years away from Dubois

Likely. To get a player who doesn't want to be traded to sign an offer sheet and to get the Jets not to match it, then the offer sheet AAV is going to be big.
