Created by: PLDGEY
Team: 2022-23 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2022
Published: May 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Im going to fight all my instincts to make another Keller to OTT ACGM, but figured I would make one where we didnt trade 7OA

3 round Draft Selections:
7OA: Johnathan Lekkerimaki
25OA EDM: Liam Ogren
39OA: Elias Salomonnson
55OA: Ryan Chelsea
72OA: Vinzenz Rohrer

Considered a Kravstov trade, but thought a Kakko OS would be more fun. Just kinda mixing things up.

No point in replacing Connor Brown with a worse player in Kakko when we want to start competing

Assuming that the top 5 is Wright, Cooley, Slaf, Nemec, Jiricek.

My faves at 7 would be Kemell, Lekkerimaki and Savoie

I dont want to pay CBrown on his next contract. CBrown is on the wrong side of the age curve and will be wanting Hyman money.

Id rather make a measured gamble in order to lock in a guy with real potential. CBrown is better literally at this moment, but this is a move to make the team better in years 2023-2027

I agree, Connor Brown will want Hyman money and he’s not a top 6 player. No thanks

I'm doing a draft selection board too for the sens soon. I love Lekkerimaki. But think Sens will pick someone else sadly haha
For the later picks like 39 and lower, check out players like Kaskimaki (favourite of these listed), Topi Ronni, Noah Warren, Jake Sloan, Miko Matikka, Maveric Lamoureux, Gleb Trikozov, and small but crazy scoring Jordan Dumais who could be a steal in the mid rounds.

I definitely want one of Lamoureux or Warren (might lean Warren) because I think they need big skilled RHD and I don't know about Ben Roger. And I'd love for them to draft more skill based players. Some have size like Sloan and Matikka. Personally I'd stay away from Salomonsson because I've heard a few unimpressive reports on his progression.

My picks in order would be...
Lekkerimaki, Yurov, Kemell. If jiricek is there then I replace Yurov with Jiricek. I'm also putting a firm do not draft on Lambert and Geekie at 7 haha

Not to mention we would place a HUGE TARGET on our back. The New York Rangers are the richest team in the NHL. Not a very good idea to make that kind of ennemy

STAY AWAY from offer sheets at all cost.

Keep Connor Brown, I don't think he'll be that expensive anyway

What would be the chance for Ogren to become as good in 3-4 years?

We need Brown

We'll have to see what his demands are. Maybe we're lucky and he doesn't ask for more than 4.75 x 5 years. Even the 3.6 AAV x 3 years he gave us was a bargain. He doesn't seem too greedy. He could have signed just a 1 year to become UFA faster if it was all about money for him.

I agree that 5.5 x 7 years would be too much. It's just too long. I would be ready to "overpay" to have less term. Like even 6.0 x 4 years, buys perfect time for some guys to grow as NHLers (think a Ridly Greig who is 19 years old right now)
