I'll take Necas, but I don't think NSH is the team to be trading unprotected 1st rounders

If it's for Necas, who's only 23 years old and has a long future ahead of him, I think that Poile can be excused for doing so (as long as Forsberg is locked up).

I don't have faith enough that Necas can become a 1st liner, that I'd be willing to trade an unprotected 2023 1st for him. Especially with NSH currently on a downward trajectory.

It depends on how you value a first rounder. In my eyes, at least, a first rounder in the range that Nashville is likely to pick (around the mid-to-late teens) is not likely to be as good as Necas currently is, let alone what he could be considering how skilled he is.

That's a deep draft, and like I said NSH is currently trending downward. Could easily be a lottery pick. If it were NSH's 17th OA this year it would be closer, but I'd still hesitate. Necas is still inconsistent, and NSH wouldn't get the benefit of his cheap ELC years.

RFA years are still cheap, though, relatively-speaking, at least if your team makes the smart bet on the right players (See the recent Carolina/Svechnikov pact). You can get a lot of value on Necas if you sign him at the correct dollar value for the right amount of years.
