Hard decisions to make if RD 1 exit

Created by: Dekes
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2022
Published: May 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Fire Cassidy Hire Trotz or let Sacco become HC
Don't Resign Sweeney not sure what GM market their is but find someone

PROs to new roster
-Future 1C acquired
-Roster relatively younger while still staying as a very competitive squad
-Bigger, more physically dominant team
- Improved defensively both on the Dcore and forward core (shatten kirk and Hague both very reliable 5v5 defensively and Both marchment and Mcleod bring very good defence, kane and woods are good defensively but they bring a strong physical presence)
- acquired more picks and prospects to have a more promising future
- team is more cap friendly and no upcoming 7+ mill extensions will be needed for a while

CON's
- no true #1 goal scorer anymore, team scoring will become more spread out
-Pasta is a team favourite and league favourite, team will get lots of backlash for trade but anyone who cares about our cap and future will see this move could be a huge positive for us (Pasta is my favourite players aswell so it would be hard seeing him go)

Overall i think the Pro's heavily out favour the cons, many guys like debrusk/ pasta/ Grizzy i don't want to see go but i think boston needs to start a big retool now so they could potentially compete for the cup and build for the post bergy ERA

  4. 2022 2nd round pick (NJD)
  5. 2023 1st round pick (NJD)
  6. 2024 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
1st is top 5 Protected
i expect it to be around 8-12th OA

NJ still could go with slafkovsky and really solidify their Wing corp or they could go with nemec or jiricek to solidify their RHD core especially with the possibility severson could be traded or leave in UFA i doubt they would go with savoie or cooley but they could and then transition them to wing
NJD
  1. Pastrnak, David
Additional Details:
Pasta extends to a 8x8.5 extension

i see pasta signing with NJ they are a young team built more around his prime and i think he would see the potential success he could have with hughes and bratt and for sure sign he could be a consistent 50 goal scorer have hughes dishing him the puck 5v5 and PP
2.
BOS
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (PIT)
  2. 2023 1st round pick (LAK)
  3. 2023 4th round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
top 8 protected

- LA needs a top 4 LHD i think he would pair well with Roy
- they also need goal scoring depth arvidsson isn't scoring like he used to, kaliyev is still a season or 2 away from surpassing high 20's so really right now their only high danger scorer is kempe

LA won’t give that up, much rather add a little more and get Sergachev or Chychrun

Nothing in that Kings trade worth a 1st round pick.

Los Angeles had 3 wings, not 1, exceed 42 points this season, and we're overfilled with left-handed forwards so DeBrusk isn't the attractive target you think he is. Mike Reilly is probably worth a second-round draft pick if we decided to go that way, but we could just as easily re-sign Alex Edler for the same as Reilly's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to acquire him.

I dont see NJ making that trade to finish outside of the playoffs, let alone that far back. If youre trading a star, id expect at best a mid round pick. Sabres lucked out with Vegas's pick and thats 16

Id say a protected 1st would be Debrusk's value rn. Whether or not LA wants to get involved is a different question

You've really overestimated :"trade" values for the Bruins players in the trades.

I don't hate the logic behind the Shattenkirk trade (Anaheim doesn't need multiple over-30 D on a rebuilding squad) I just think you need to give them more than the Press Box Grab Bag you gave them here. Steen is probably a bottom 6 forward at this point, Clifton is a 6/7th D, and two mid/late round picks aren't going to buy you Shattenkirk with full retention.

I think someone else could beat that Hague deal, but it's not horrible - gives VGK a bottom 6 forward who'll probably sign for under $1M while letting go a player they would probably have difficulty affording next season. They probably wind up rolling more Ben Hutton than they would like at LD3 next year, but having 6 D already signed to deals next season feels like the writing on the wall for Hague.

Grz would be solid as LD2 on the Islanders, just not sure how I feel about this package. Dufour made a big leap this season and the Isles need -some- young forwards in the system. I'd want to sleep on this one and see if there's something else we could configure that keeps Dufour in the org for now, but at the end of the day I wouldn't be furious at this trade if it happened IRL.

Kings would probably want to give you this year's 1st instead of next year's, but if that's agreeable I think it's fine. Reilly for a 3rd is CF Certified™, and DeBrusk for a pick in the 20s + a 4th rounder feels like okay value. I think if the Kings balk, there are other teams who would be happy to make this work.

NJ trade is tough - Pasta probably deserves a roster player, a prospect, and a 1st at least, which you have here. Wood's RFA rights are probably not that valuable to the Devils in this case, but I also think that adding in two 2nds (including 37th OA this season) tips it a little much. Maybe kick back a young forward to the Devils, or maybe do them the favor of taking Tomas Tatar off their hands instead of Miles Wood? Not sure how to even this one out - and if there's any deal that I think would make sense to mimic an NBA-style sign-and-trade, it would be this one - have the ink dry on Pasta's 8x$8.5M before you send him out the door to Jersey, just so they have that absolute guarantee of having him long-term.

Anaheim might be the only team to accept, and that’s only a maybe.

Trades are pretty bad for the other teams.

You lost all credibility when yoy signed Kane anyway.

I'd think the LAK skip the Reilly trade and trade mid rd picks for Hague.

Like I said I believe their would be some type of deal worked on pre trade so devils know he will resign, could even be a sign and trade

If there were a deal, would have to be sign and trade based on timing of draft (July 8) and first day he can sign extension (July 13). Alternative would be taking out any 2022 picks and do trade after draft.

That vegas trade is terrible. Why are we paying Roy to move one year of Dadanov? Could see us easily paying a 3rd sure.

What are you taking about dadonov and Roy aren’t even in the trade? It’s Hague and you might only get pennies to the dollar for him considering your cap unless you want pay big time for someone to take dadonov/karlsson or Martinez

ive seen canucks fans ask for a 2nd for pearson if pearson is getting a 2nd then debrusk is getting a first. pearson is nothing better then a third line average scorer, debrusk is a 2way versatile scorer.
debrusk has more goals this year then pearson has in the last 2 not to mention majority near 90% of debrusks goals have came from 5v5

Obviously Debrusk is more valuable than Pearson, but just because X fetches this, doesn't always mean Y fetches something more relative to X. If Pearson fetches a 2nd, and there's no reason to think why he wouldn't because he scored at half a point per game pace this season, then Debrusk can fetch as little as two 2nd rounders, or maybe a 2nd and a 3rd

No thanks.

I mean, he just objectively is. A 25 year old 25 goal scorer is getting a first when signed for two more years at $4M. His 2022 was really good. 20 goals in 52 games

Are you really that confident an inquiring team is going to offer Sweeney a 1st for Debrusk this off-season? It's the GM's who set the market, and then the player agents latch onto the initiators
