I don’t hate this.
Would be nice if Kadri took 3yrs that way they’d have space to resign Ehlers when his deal is up

Kadri nichuskin and kuemper will all get .5-1 million more at the least. Would think that ehlers would get more if he is traded

Yeah for sure, but when the time comes I'm sure Avs could make up the necessary space... No way Kadri will settle for 3 yrs after the year he's having, 6.5 is a good hometown discount to begin with, I'm sure other teams could offer him at least 8-8.5... but I imagine players like Landeskog will take discounts to play for Avs nowadays...

Yeah they at least should get more on the open market, especially Nichushkin, as an Islander fan I would give him 6x6 easily, but I imagine after Landeskog's discount some players will be willing to take discounts to play for this team, amazing as it is right now. I would personally not do this trade if I were the Jets but from Colorado's perspective it's a dream scenario imo.

Fun trade, not sure of the value but I think that the Avs avoid including Olausson in any trades. He’s our only remaining blue chip forward prospect.

Yeah but in a scenario where you give him up in a package for Ehlers on a very good contract, you just have to do it imo. And the Avs still got their 2023 1st rounder in this scenario, they could swap Olausson for the 1st rounder I suppose if they rather do that.

I don't think the Avs will trade Girard at this time. ATOI shows he's firmly their #3. Maybe when Behrens is ready and/or Toews needs a new contract, but not yet.

Keeping Girard and re-signing Burakovsky likely ends up in the same place from a cap perspective. And I think the team is better overall with that lineup plus Olausson and Kaut still around. That's my two cents. Ehlers would be cool though.

Yeah I tend to agree, just think it would be so fun to see Ehlers on this team.

Agreed. I don’t think Winnipeg does this trade either way but the Avs I’m sure will be sensitive with their prospects moving forward given how thin the pool is. But Ehlers is also sick and would be a great fit in Colorado lol
