Don't know if Wheeler waives, but if management makes it clear that they feel the need to go in a new direction, I don't know why he'd want to stay. If the rumors are true about him being a cancerous presence, I would say all bets are off on him staying

Fine by me! Scheifele is a good player and would be a nice offensive jolt for the second line, but the Avs are giving up a 24 year old defensemen with term that immediately slots into your top 4 (potentially top pairing) and QBs PP1 or PP2. They also give up a strong middle 6 winger that the Avs just acquired at the TDL. Package is just a bit too rich imo.

Jackets pass. Voracek is way more valuable to us. If Wheeler is toxic i dont see why we would want him and we are certainly not looking to get older players.

Scheifele would be a good fit in Colorado - assume this is because Kadri leaves.

Overall one of the more balanced posts I have seen

COL declines.
Girard for 5 years and Lehkonen with contract control is not worth 2 years of toxic Schiefele (esspecially if hes only going to be playing a 2C role for that dollar value)

Not really interested in Dillon. My target for RHD is Ethan Bear if CAR can't afford him or doesn't want to sign him long term. Beyond that, rather sign Lyubushkin for the 3rd line than spend a 2nd.

Yeah, who wouldn't take a 28 y/o C that doesn't play much defense with only 2 years remaining on his deal for two younger players that are cost-controlled and integral to the team's future? Scheifele is a good player but moving out two younger players that play key roles for one older one like Scheif isn't going to be of interest for a cap team in it's Cup window with other guys to re-sign soon.

Other than the Schmidt trade these are all awful for the Jets.

Not to mention the fact that it was Wheeler who drove Laine out of Winnipeg. There is no chance Columbus makes that trade knowing that Laine and wheeler won’t get along.

Homer take there. The Vorachek/Wheeler swap is very tilted in Winnipeg’s favor. I don’t think CBJ considers trading for a 35 year old with 2 more years of term.

Dillon probably doesn’t move the needle enough to justify his cap hit and the return.

And for reasons above, the Scheifele trade is a pass from Colorado.

Actually, it just sounds like an uniformed response on your part based on ignorance of the Jets needs.

I don't think Winnipeg considers trading for an unneeded 32 year old left shot forward with 2 more years of term, when the 35 year old they have is a needed right shot and better.

The Jets have no reason to downgrade from Dillon. If they move Dillon it would be due to cap and would be just for the best pick(s) they can get. They won't muddy it by taking back an unneeded player.

The Jets aren't giving up a PPG 1C on a great contract for an unneeded left shot bottom 6 winger and a small offense only LD that clogs the left side more.

Once again: homer take.

Vorachek is younger and equal in production to Wheeler. I really liked Wheeler at his peak, but the dude will be 36 at the start of next season and is on a decline. There’s also the whole media narrative of locker room issues, but I don’t put much weight on that.

Dillon is a $4M bottom pairing defenseman.

Scheifele is a good player, but I’ve already commented the reasons why the Avs say no. It seems like you are not very familiar with Girard and Lehkonen and are overvaluing the players you have on your roster.

Once again, biased take based on ignorance and homerism if you want to go to that route. No chance the Ave turn down a PPG 1C on a great contract if all it is costing them is a run of the mill 4th liner and a small, offense only bottom pairing defenseman. That's a real homeristic take.

If the Avs were good enough where Lehkonen were on the 4th line and Girard on the bottom pairing, I would literally cum lmao. Enjoy your players, Avs still decline.
