If Myers is coming back theres definitely no retention. 2.5 million and hes not even in the nhl at the end of the year

Why is Arizona getting Weber contract? For reaching the cap floor I suppose? But why wouldn't they want to get paid to do it?

They could get a lot of contracts around the league and get paid for it so this is very unlikely to happen.

It's refreshing. I haven't looked at a lot of Habs ACGMs but almost everytime I did, my forehead was getting redder

They want the weber contract because there is no actual cash attached to the cap hit. It save them from spending money because they are broke

Because he is only getting paid like 2 mil but his AAV is like 8 mil so its a management thing to save internal money

Oh true, I knew that years ago. Didn't realize it was starting. 3.0 next season then 1.0 for each of the last 3 years.

Damn that type of contract would have been gold for Ottawa (Melnyk) during the rebuild

If anything I think that the habs could get a better pick than a 7th trading weber to nashville, so that he could retire with them and not destroy their cap with recapture penalties.

I think they changed that rule to not impact teams as much

Its recapture. Its happening regardless of what team he is on. The point of it is, if the team pays more for a player than they are charged on the cap, there is a re-capture. Its already happened.

I was going to ask about Nashville being a possibility for Weber and avoiding the recapture penalty if he retired there.

And most of that money will be paid by the contract insurance. In actual cash its basically nothing
