Dude, I'm not a Devils fan but Habs fans seriously need to be stop sending 'scraps' to the Devils for the second overall pick. That'll be Cooley or Slavkovsky both of which will give them more than the Habs could ever give. As Cooley and/or Slavkovsky could be even better than Wright and have seriously different profiles as players.

Cooley >>> Andersson + Allen + C tier prospect + #27

None of the pieces coming back fit NJD either, other than the backup GK.
Think they only way Habs get #2 ova would be if they offered Caufield in return.

I think if you add caufield do that jersey trade, the devils might actually start to talk about it.

I did that from lot of trade that I saw.
I try to give more asset than all of the trade I see here.

Only thing that need to know is if the devils want to be in the playoff next year, this trade give them more chance than keeping Cooley or Slafkovsky as rookie.

1. it's literally impossible for Calgary's 1st to be below 25th since they won the division. And that involves All 4 division winners to miss the final conference finals.
2. That offer is incredibly weak. Lets go over all the 2nd OA picks between 2010 and 2020. Seguin, Landeskog, Murray, Barkov, Reinhart, Eichel, Laine, Patrick, Svechnikov, Kakko, Byfield. There are like 2 misses in there and you are offering a middle 6 winger, a backup goalie, a B prospect, and a late 1st

Sure, but they've also got the cap space to add a similar player to Anderson without giving up 2OA.

That's fair.

But look, if Devils wanted Allen they could just trade someone like Zacha for him.
I'm not convinced Andersson makes the 3rd line in New Jersey next season, Devils offense is already their strongest area. His contract is very bad also.
Devils have one of the strongest and deepest prospect pools in the league, meaning #27 and Tuch doesn't fill a need for them.

As for Cooley or Slaf, Devils don't need them in the lineup right away.
Would be better to let them develop one more year before NHL.

That doesn't even get the conversation started for the 2nd. Anderson, while he's a need for Jersey, is the only thing worth a darn in this trade.

More assets doesn’t equate to more value.

It starts with caufield.

He's what Miles Wood should be right now in his career. Anderson is overpaid no question. But when healthy he's a 20 to 25 goal power forward who can get into the corners and also has breakaway speed. Devils need a power forward.

Not really.
Devils are an above average team in terms of offense and I seriously doubt Andersson would improve their top nine.
Getting another winger for the sake of just making acquisition wouldn't make much sense.

Hab fans are a joke. Allen the average backup and a guy on a bad contract doesn’t get you the 2 OA pick

Jersey isn’t trading 2OA unless it involves Cole Caufield or Nick Suzuki.
Not wanting to give those assets up in return for 2OA is fine, but that’s likely where the conversation would need to start for NJ. They want a top line winger though, not a 1B, Middle sixer, and a prospect. Might as well take and develop Cooley or Slaf

We need a good power forward
A guy like Matthew Tkachuk.
Maybe Slafkocvsky could be what we're looking for

Not saying this return is going to get it done but I think the OP was referencing my thread where I asked the price of the 2nd OVA pick and referenced a story saying that the Devils needs were a young scoring power forward and a backup goalie. I don't think that is their needs just said that is what the story said they identified as their needs. I honestly don't see anyone in the top 5 moving but you never know lol

Don't be ridiculous, Montreal is not moving Caufield or Suzuki for 2nd OVA. I know that you think it is worth it but it really isn't. Why would we move a guy who under the new coach was on pace for 40+ goals in his rookie season? That is like us asking for Jack Hughes for 1st OVA. Neither team is going to do anything like that. I know you don't like the deal and are probably just asking for Caufield out of spite because you are tired of these types of offers but instead of getting spiteful how about actually constructively contributing to the conversation with something more realistic or just declining the offer.

They don't have a ton of grit up front nor guys that will go to those dirty areas. They lost that when Coleman left and they'll need it if they make it to the playoffs.

NJ counter offers with: Anderson, Allen, Tuch, the pick.... and Montreals first pick next year, unprotected. Which Montreal should not do.
