The only reason you're selling him is because the Caps won't sell the players they should sell. So you're left moving a guy that any true contender would love to add.

Caps ain't a true contender.

There's a reason Sheary was a contributor on two cup teams.

So why not sell him to a "true contender" for draft picks? hes not doing us any good since we arent contenders and seems like he would be an asset to a team push for a cup? by your logic its pointless to keep him bc he dont make us a contender and other team would love to add him ?

If they trade Eller and Hags, then Snively can take 4LW, McMichael can take 3C, and Protas can play 1C in Hershey and be a fallback in case McMichael struggles. Protas's 24 points in 42 games there this year tells me he hasn't outgrown the AHL yet. Trading a cheap contributor like Sheary to open a lineup spot for him is premature.

thats possible but i think we need to start getting these kids some games in the NHL... Protas looked fine when he waas up. Sheary imo can fetch solid assets in a deep draft.

Oh i agree. i wasnt sure if the Devils have given up on Blackwood or not... are you guys are looking for more of a 1B rather than a Lehner type or Husso something like that? more just wondering

I think a veteran backup like Holtby would a good fit

As long as ovi is still playing, the caps should be going all in on a cup. replacing sheary with snively or protas would be an immediate downgrade, and would not help the caps be any more competitive next year. there is also no reason for them to just leave 3.5 million in empty cap space. They should be doing everything they possibly can to add more talent, including spending to the max

Because this front office is still trying to compete and still thinks we are? We aren't the actual GMs of the Caps.. so they aren't trading one of the best value contracts in the NHL for picks. This is what I said months ago.
