Description
Obviously gunna be tight, 12.7m dead cap will do that to you. fiala has arbitration rights. set it as a 1 year deal and take him to arb try and get a 6m cap figure, they based on just whats below can do 6.6m sam reinharts 6.5x 3 seems like a strong comparable for the wild to use although fiala if you need to get more $$ for a long term deal you just move kulikov out and bring up a cheap 7th d. they wont have any depth like i said itll be tight pretty much all year. plenty of situations where they dont need to get rid of fiala.

Add one scratch and they are over the cap.

And they lose Fiala for nothing next summer (UFA)

not necessarily. they could easily extend. there could be an in the works move where fiala takes a shorter term 1 year deal and extends long term which keeps his y1 cap hit down and he gets a little more on the extension for keeping y1 down. get creative with it.

only real issue becomes year 2 when both he and dumba are up along with boldy and addison. but the wild will have to get creative with 12.7 and 14.7m dead cap hits. no other way around it. they either arent competitive in which they trade fiala and rebuild/retool. or they retain fiala and try and move cap elsewhere. its doable without moving dumba just more difficult.

I think Fiala played his last game for Minny. He was awful all series. They probably cash in on something for his RFA rights and move on.

Also hi @hanson493

also worth noting, in 35 career playoff games he only has 15 points... seems a little interesting there.

Yep. Had a great regular season too; someone would pay good value I think but he didn't help his reputation. I just can't see the Wild handing him a big deal after his showing, he was brutal when they needed him. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the bigger names on the Wild end up getting moved somehow. I guess it depends on how patient Guerin is going to be. They have a nice prospect pool but I wonder if the 4 yrs with Kaprizov is the window.
