It might not be as drastic as a 5 year 5.5 million deal, but I'm preparing to see him get extended.

Talbot's underlying numbers were very similar to Craig Andersons. Any assets the Sabres give up for goaltending at this stage has to be for a clear upgrade so pass.

Launch him into the sun along with Kulikov. Great guy and can play well when he's healthy but I'm so sick of defending him. Inconsistent, often injured, and when he makes mistakes they often lead to goals. Trade him for whatever futures we can get.

Talbot played in 49 games, a bit more than Anderson. I would probably do that deal.

Yeah if we’re being realistic, it’s probably smart to prepare for an extension of some sort happening.

My thoughts exactly. I just can’t deal with a 60 game a year player that no longer has the offensive chops to offset his gaffes.

if the quality of goaltending isn't better what does it matter that he played more games? Anderson wasn't actually good, just seemed that way cause the backup was a non nhler.

The whole shtick this year was a big step forward and all the vibes from winning instead of tanking. You kinda undermine that if your reward to the skaters is a goaltending tandem that is equally shaky.

Well they were winning with those numbers from Anderson, just don't know how much he can handle. And the defense should get better so that should help the goalie out.

That's true, I just think if theyre gunna spend real cap % (not the 0.5% they spent this year or whatever lol) they may as well really invest in it, bring some serious stability. Assuming the 2nd half of the season wasnt a mirage, a strong tandem may be enough to at least keep them in wildcard conversation leading up to deadline day. Then you can reassess and make a move.

Really wouldn't even do the deal until Adams assess his goalie situation, it's not a deal that has to be done by the draft, it is a 2023 4th. Way Adams talked about it I doubt he goes longer than 2 or 3yrs on any goalie he might sign.

My assumption is hell throw a lot of money short term to one of the UFA's. No sense giving up assets for someone you want gone in a year or two. Granted, you're right Talbot would come cheap, just shouldnt be option a, b or c i think
