Not that it makes any difference because WPG declines that trade before the call even comes in, but Guerin handed Goligoski a nice juicy NMC. And no offense to the good people of WPG, but I don’t think there’s a snowballs chance he waives to go there.

Detroit passes no need for an RHD and aren't going to give up 2 2nds for a rental.

Everyone probably accepts the trades except Winnipeg and Detroit one is a toss up. Probably could land more for Gaudreau, Jost and possibly even Kulikov.

Detroit declines. Dumba won't be worth his next contract. I doubt he'd sign a contract extension or waive his NTC for Detroit.

I'd argue that RHD is a pretty significant organizational need. Obviously, Seider will be a franchise pillar for the next 10+ years, however I'm not convinced that there are any other RHD currently in the system that can be counted on as solid pieces on a contender when the time comes. I think we all had high hopes for Hronek, but his year was disappointing...perhaps he can slot in as a second pair guy if he's paired with a really solid LH partner, but I don't think that can be considered a slam dunk at this point. Lindstrom struggled in the second half of the year and his ceiling appears to be a 6/7 D on a good team. Currently the best prospect on the right side is...Tuomisto? The jury is certainly out on him. If Jiricek falls to #8 I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wings grab him. Now whether Dumba makes sense is another subject, but after the performance of the D in the second half of the season I think it's possible, if not likely, that Stevie aggressively shakes up that whole unit aside from Seider, and the kids who appear to be close (Edvinsson and Johansson).

I disagree Hronek is the Detroit player you see in the most ACGMs lately simply because young RHDs with his production are in need. He was 36th in points by defensemen and there were only like 3 or 4 2nd pair defenseman ahead of him on the list. I'm sorry but in todays NHL you need that 4th guy in the rush to score regularly in today's NHL. So you need to factor in production with defensemen it plays a much bigger role in the salary cap era. Yes he needs to work on his defensive game and that's exactly what was discussed in his exit interview with management. You also have to consider who he was paired with putting him with another offensively minded defenseman doesn't especially one over 30. Maybe Hronek gets moved down the road but for now the right side of the D fine. Finding a good stop gap LHD or 2 and a center or 2 is far more pressing. Paying 2 2nd rd picks for a single season of a defenseman with a $6M cap hit isn't smart at all. Dumba is more than 3yrs older and averages about 10 less games a season and that includes the 2018-19 season where Hronek spent the first half of the season in the AHL.

I certainly hope Hronek turns out to be a long term piece, I just think that at this point it can't be assumed. I wasn't arguing that I would like to see them give up two 2 seconds for Dumba, only pushing back a little on the consistent assertions that the Red Wings don't need RHD.
