Additional Details:

I think this is more than fair, laf can be a future backup to igor, rees and gunler r both high ceiling players. Rees is NHL ready IMO, gunler is probably a year away, and as a sweetner throw in a first. I know they could just offer sheet him but I feel this is probably a good move for both teams and that way Carolina is able to lock him up 8 years without having to wait a year and possibly have him want to be paid more than his previous contract.

If the canes are paying that much just for Kakko, Waddell loses his job. Period. Now, if we are talking Laf AND Kakko, that is more of an acceptable deal.

gunler is a highly touted prospect who is one year away from the NHL, rees could have been in the NHL this year if he was on a ****tier team, laf is one ear removed of being the best goalie in the NCAA on a team that wasn't Michigan. not to mention yall get a 2024 1st which I think is a hell of a deal for a player who should probably pull a pool party and go back to finland for a year to develop

Kakko is our only good RW with great potential. We would've lost in 5 to Pittsburgh if he wasn't playing. Same with Lafreniere.
