And that's why I'm so disappointed, but more-so nervous. To me, you can't look at the fact that they didn't get the result they wanted this time around and make major organization changing decisions based off of it. You can't compound this loss with the others - they were a different team; a better team. And they have been getting progressively better since Dubas and Keefe have taken the reins, core intact. I'm legitimately afraid the the powers that be won't see it that way and the team will be worse off because of it.

The Leafs legitmately shouldn't be upset, rather disappointed. They need to buckle their boot straps and prepare for next year (I think moving Nylander is necessary financially and for the ROI) , but they should have won that series; the chips just didn't fall in their favour.

Its a similar theory to; a snowball rolling down hill, keeps gaining momentum.

Tampa extends their streak/ momentum and keep "rolling"... but the Leafs also have that same momentum from their streak of "losing"

you don't trade Puljujarvi for a 2nd pair D, that would be incredibly stupid

About as stupid as using him as a 4th liner. Which Woodcroft is doing right now.

Say what you say but I think it'd be better moving him for a 2nd pair D than misusing him.

The approach I took was to take the base-two logarithm of 27,778: there are two outcomes of an NHL playoff game so if the two teams are evenly matched you could expect any game to be a 50-50. Thus (1/2)^x should equal that 1/27,778 figure of JFresh's, with x being the number of instances the Leafs have been in that situation for either team to clinch.

The result I got was around 14.76. I don't know the specifics of the Leafs' series but I know that x cannot be greater than 20 in this instance as there are only 4 possible games that can clinch a series (I believe the max for this number is actually 16 as I don't recall the Leafs or their opponents being up 3-0 in the series).

This leads me to suspect that JFresh is using odds from his model and that the distribution of who wins the game isn't 50-50.

Okay, well I don't know if he just worded it poorly or what his intention is, but the tweet says nothing about including the odds of getting to five game 7's (or game 5 in one case). The way he words it, I read it as just being in 5 game 7's and losing all of them. Of course these are two highly different equations.

Still waiting for someone to pull this one in these playoffs should the opportunity come.

Sigma mindset.

For most of the regular season he was used as a top 6 wing with Mcdavid, he might be struggling a bit right now and Woodcroft thinks its the best thing to do at the moment. Woodcroft deserves the benefit of the doubt.

the leafs lost the season the moment dubas backed the goaltending before the heritage classic.

the results were predictable and preventable.

jack campbell ends the playoffs with a 3.15gaa and a .897sv%.

i wonder if dubas is still "not concerned" about the goaltending.

Woodcroft was hired in February which around when Pulju was injured. I suppose since Pulju was missing when Woodcroft was taking his first steps as the coach he hasn't been able to build trust towards him. Which ultimately could explain his lowered ice time from the average of 16 minutes per game with Tippett to 14 minutes per game with Woodcroft to under 10 minutes in these playoffs.

They had grit it got them in trouble as Matthews and Marner were throwing their weight around

What they need is a scoring third line

That line had opportunities but other than being good at defense the offense after game 4 became non existent

I would look into bringing in some solid bottom 6 pieces to work with Kampf

You clearly didnt watch Campbell, other than game 4 he was good for the whole series

Shutting the Lightning out game 1

Playing on a hurt leg game 7

Robbing Stamkos when it was 3-2 in game 3

Nobody would have done any better. He was the hardest working of all the Leafs in each and every game.

Heck other than tonight Vasy's numbers werent much better.

I think they need an actual first pair D.

I don't think Rielly is good enough. He's basically a Klingberg.

Klingberg was great. But he wasn't great enough.

Brodie, Muzzin and Lyubushkin complement him pretty well, but ultimately it's not good enough.

They need a guy they could use in virtually every role and if needed, 30 minutes a night.

Rielly was fine, 3 goals 3 assists in 7 games. What they do need to find though is a proper partner for him. Lybushkin worked but we need a true top 4 RD partner for him

Someone like Fabbro would be nice. As honestly Rielly showed growth and had some good moments this series
