Next Year

Created by: Canucks33
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: May 13, 2022
Published: May 14, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Capitals will be going for it as long as Ovechkin is under contract, just like Crosby and Pittsburgh. Miller gives them one of the best top-9 groups in the league.

Senators get a top-6 forward with term.

Canucks have flexibility depending on how the season goes. If we show well and are in the Playoff push, we can elect to use one or more of our extra picks to improve the team at the deadline without compromising our drafting ability. If we are not in the mix, then guys like Eller, Schenn, Myers, Pearson and Dickinson can all be moved for futures and we can take on dead cap for additional assets. Flexibility is the key here.

All we need to see for next season is our core group (Pettersson, Horvat, Hughes and Boeser) show that they can play elite hockey and win games and for the next wave (Podkolzin, Hoglander, Rathbone and McMichael) to show progress in their roles on the team.

First trade is solid. Sens trade is not! Rather play Woo than give up Garland for that return.

I don't think the pure value of the Washington trade is terrible, but the Caps aren't in a spot to make that move for Miller.
