I know this will trigger alot of people. I'm honestly not trolling. I think they've proven they can't win. Need to replace Keefe too as he won't play the best players.

Doesn't help NJ ... They need Hamilton (An Experienced Defenseman) far more and while they are no where near as accomplished/talented, NJ has plenty of skilled undersized forwards with upside and better contracts. NJ needs are not solved by trading for Marner. Keep Hamilton & draft Slafkovsky.

Fair enough. My general point is the Leafs need a true top defenceman. NJ might not be ideal fit.

Your point is not wrong, but they are in a tough spot.

I think a true number 1 Defenseman is worth more than Marner on his Contract. Terrific player, but it's not a premium position ... If Marner is swapped out for a Defenseman, they will have a tough time getting fair value for him imo.

Doesn't need to be a Norris finalist or anything. But there are teams that have 2 or 3 legit 1D who could be willing to swap from a position of strength for one of need.

Fair enough. My point was just to get rid of him. Picked Ottawa almost at random bc trade so frequently.

True ... Not sure what they do this year with the UFAs, but an example would be Carolina ... it feels like they always have an endless line of D depth in their system
