Description
I highly doubt there is much change. They played well and went 7 games vs the 2 times defending champs. Nobody should be at blame here. I think they will run back a majority of the years roster with some small cap movements.

I have a feeling Myers will be bought out, I can also see Toronto giving him a look since he was playing with the Marlies after clearing waivers. IDK why it didn't work for him in Nashville but he looked like a guy with legitimate top 4 potential when he was in Philly. 2 years ago when Philly was on a 9 game win streak and 2nd in the Metro he was averaging 17 minutes a night almost entirely at even strength. He is a Trouba-lite type of player, strong skater and decent defensively with a big frame.

Toronto has to re-sign Campbell imo. He went toe-to-toe with Vasilevskiy this series and in most of the games looked really solid. I doubt they can get him for less than 5x5 though

Holl and Mrazek are both likely moved this summer to help resign their young guys and bring back Campbell.

I think Gio was a great fit for this teams leadership and was excellent mentor for Liljegren. I can see him coming back on a 1 year deal for cheap but it may hurt them if they want to play Sandin the full season

So bring back the same team minus one of their best PK guys (Mikheyev), add an overpaid goalie to worsen the cap situation (Campbell), and bring in a guy that wasn’t picked up by anyone when on waivers last season (Myers)? & you wanna bench a young guy like Sandin? You expect this roster to be better? .. this isn’t realistic. Changes have to be made. You don’t go 0/6 in first rounds and keep going back to the same guys. Doesn’t matter how well they played, they need results. Not good feelings.

The AAVs for all RFAs signed seem about 1m short.
Dubas is gonna have very little room to maneuver this off season.

    Agree and disagree.

Campbell will get that kind of contract. No question. If he had been consistent all year we would be talking about $7-9M. He started the first half of the season in Vezina discussions. He had a great series. Leafs can win with that level of goaltending.

Myers might be an interesting experiment and interesting proposal. But unproven could only come back on league min. I would probably put him with Muzzin or on the third line.

They will lose someone this off-season. Mikheyev seems likely unless they move Nylander.

Biggest issue I see is bottom 6 are still small, skill guys. Love Simmonds but not sure he can be your only hitter. Robertson adds the problem - small, skilled winger who is the opposite of bang and crash. They need some size who can dig in the corners, push around big D and make Defences feel a 7 game series.

Maybe in terms of moving cap out but I really don't see much change. They were a good team this year and imo a legitimate contender that just faced another legitimate contender in the first round. I find it quite different from previous seasons
