Jets say thank you and run away before you change your mind. DeMelo isn’t worth this package.

Canucks shouldn’t acquire Demelo. You’d think after Myers and Poolman to not chase after another Winnipeg RD

DeMelo is better than both IMO. Really solid defensive RD, but definitely not worth this package. He’d be a great partner for Hughes.

Woo would be a nice add for jets, jets definitely have a lot of decisions on cap and direction.

Decent value, but unlikely Winnipeg does it. They need DeMelo more than any of the offered pieces.

Finding a RD via UFA would be a better option than giving up another high pick for Demelo.

Don't think JR and Allvin would be throwing around draft picks like Jimbo.

Just curious what you all think would be the right acquisition price for the Canucks. I was hoping they were going to sign DeMelo when he was a UFA, and I still think he'd be a decent option for them if the price is right. Would Woo + a later pick get it done?

IMO, it wouldn't do for the Jets. Unless cap forces their hand, they only have two RD, so trading one for futures doesn't make sense.

DeMelo is probably worth more to the Jets than what they could get in a trade.

Comes down to what Winnipeg wants. Woo and a 3rd probably gets it done if they wanted to move DeMelo. But like mentioned above, jets are short on RHD. If they went out and made a bigger deal first like a scheifele for top 4 RHD then yeah I think a DeMelo deal makes sense.

There really aren't any minute munching RHD in UFA that fit what Hughes needs in a partner.

Ya quite a few dominos fall before anything gets to demelo, ideally there’s a monster minute eater available via trade, probably only a potential monster minute eater on the right side to gamble on. Scheifele decision, Dubois extension, Comrie contract possibly, move out cap would be my list. I wonder if Comrie walks there’s a project back up goalie coming back for some cap in a scheifele exchange. Will be interesting summer, I hope there’s a beauty at 14 that can crack top 4 or 6 in 6 to 18 months and stay there for 10 years lol. Not asking for much

I think your list is accurate. Hopefully a team gets desperate after a playoff disappointment and is willing to move a RD. I just wonder if Boston could be that team with Carlo.

I think comrie has every intention of staying. Winnipeg truly gave him an opportunity and he’s a loyal guy. But yeah if he walked I’m sure the jets likely look at a G in return.

Probably coach first, then kicks everything else into gear, I’m kind of hoping for a coach that can get a team wide buy in. Tough to do right at the cap, hoping some of the youth comes fast. I’m a little worried, I think Dubois looks damn good as a 1b to scheifele 1a. Little worried that there’s going to be a rather large hole to fill and frustrations of past rear there head with Dubois again. Depending on the coach.

Yeah it’s one of the reasons why trotz may not be the right coach. But there’s got to be a coach out there that can get the whole team to buy in.

Ya I’m not sure of the correct coach to pull off the sutter and flames transition in Winnipeg. Definitely distinctly different scenarios, but also could be a similar conclusion of playoffs a season after none. I’m kind of hoping Vincent comes back as an assistant and possibly head gig for a possible full rebuild in a couple years. Or a full on double down on current with some slight changes and try a vignealt or Carlyle, or random other true north coaching tree. Kind of excited about 14th overall probably one of the toughest one to predict with the jets living off the board on most occasions.

Agree on all. I’d rather have Carlyle than AV.

14th pick will end up pretty good. There’s always a guy from the top 10 that drops to 10-15. Lundell, Perfetti are easy examples from last year. There will definitely be someone who slips.
