Description

Vancouver trades Pettersson to get two talented young guys from Vancouver. Kent Johnson has the upside that Pettersson has. Vancouver decides to go with JT Miller and Bo Horvat as TOP6 centermen.

Columbus speeds up the retool as Pettersson is already 23y old. He fits teams age structure and fills the void of number one center for CBJ. Jenner plays with his wing to help with faceoffs and to do the dirty work.

CBJ 1st 2023 is TOP10 protected if CBJ is within 10 worst teams in 2023 then the pick is CBJ 1st 2024 without protection.

In the big picture CBJ used the retool phase to get Pettersson, Sillinger and two 1st round picks in 2023 draft. Eith a couple more moves probably to defence the get set closer to making the playoffs.

From a Vancouver perspective that's what it would take for the Canucks to move him. They probably would want a young RD involved in the package if possible tho.

I'd ask for the 6th overall this year instead of the 2023 pick, which would give us the young RD

While the Canucks wouldn’t trade Pettersson, in a hypothetical world where they do this is a strong offer. As cooliny said above, they probably ask for 6 OA instead of the protected 2023 1st
