Description
Tavares was never the problem. The problem was Leaf management behaving like George Steinbrenner. They handcuffed themselves with that massive contract and as a byproduct put a lot of pressure on Tavaras. IDK if Winnipeg makes that deal but I like the idea of Scheifele playing without the pressure of Tavares. Leaf fans ARE CRAZY if they want to trade Marner, he has shown to be effective in the playoffs. I don't like trading Nylander but we have to free up cap space somewhere and it doesn't have to be Ottawa but a team like that who has a young cheap center with upside and a serviceable defenseman.
Muzzin can go anywhere just need to shed salary
I think its imperative for them to bring back Ilya, Kase, Engvall and Spezza because you can't run two lines in the playoffs.

my perspective so take it for what its worth. Im a flyers fan so what else do I have to do?
I do not like the Leafs but think they outplayed Tampa. They really are close

Jets don’t do scheifele straight up for tavares, cap hits are a factor and age, and term. Tavares possibly doesn’t waive for Winnipeg so a lot of non starters.

So the leafs get a guy who is even worse at two way play than tavares and a bad defender with a bad contract, then a guy who might be a 3rd liner and a back up for nylander? Awful

Zero chance Winnipeg pays a premium to get stuck with Tavares' contract or that Tavares waives for Winnipeg. Leafs will have to ride out JT's contract while he continues to decline.

Absolutely no interest in installing Jake Muzzin 2.0, plus we could re-sign Alex Edler for less than Jake's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to re-acquire Muzz.

Love jack but nearly 6 mil a year for 5 years seems too much. I think all the rfas are overpays. Imo. And Jason is fine with league minimum 750 no need for raise.

Ottawa declines, there happy with Pinto who can develop into a great 2C and give the Sens center depth.

Forsberg is also the Sens starting goalie and was one of the best in the league this year and has given stability to a volitile goaltending position.
