Would you do this deal if it was Vancouver or Toronto

Created by: Angusc
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2022
Published: May 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I get that Rielly is an offensive Dmen and wants top minutes on the 1st power play to show his true potential. But just curious if you would think he'd be a fit for the Canucks. If OEL goes to the Leafs, he'd be a replacement for Morgan.

Note, I did not put contracts, but wanted to focus on the two Dmen I've listed.

Trades
VAN
  1. Rielly, Morgan
Additional Details:
A high prospect in Rasmus Sandin would be coming in to take his place. Considering they have lots of UFAs to sign such as Engvall, Campell, they will need to save every penny to sign them.
TOR
  1. Ekman-Larsson, Oliver
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
He replaces Rielly and has a cheaper AAV. Either him or JT Miller would be going to the Leafs. Add a pick for a sweetener or retain salary.

Rielly is an Elite Dman and has shown how good he is. He is also an amazing leader. I do not see Rielly being traded.

Leafs definitely say no but I don't think it's a good deal for either team. Rielly would be behind Quinn and thrust into more of a matchup role that OEL is more suited for than Rielly.

And for Toronto they're not saving any cap space and they're getting older while not getting any better and potentially actually being worse.

Yikes bro. Leafs just got eliminated in the first round and their fans are probably not happy. You’re about to piss off a lot of people
