They struggled with us. That would alarm me if I was a Rangers fan because this Pens team is basically a retirement home on it's last legs

Yes, but they have a ton of experience and managed to throw Shesterkin off his game for a few...

In all seriousness now that the heat of passions has calmed a bit... how in the heck is Drury going to pay those kids and still hold that blueline together?

Fox has got his payday, but realistically the next step is shipping Trouba (unfortunately) he stepped up big time this season, and series (not talking about the hit and not going to argue if it was clean or not), but by shipping him we free up $8,000,000.00. I see Miller being paid 4-5M for 4 years, Schneider being paid something similar. Complementing these kids with cheap veterans or new ELCs and holding the fort down like that.

Luckily the kids aren't going to be that expensive unless Kaapo and Laf have a big breakout in this series.

Seems like it all depends on if they can move Trouba. Shipping Trouba is going to extremely difficult (not impossible), due to his cap hit and NMC and his stated desire to have stability for his wife while she's in school, but if they can ship Trouba a Fox/Lundkvist/Schneider would be the ideal right side for as long as they can keep the other two at a reasonable cap hit, which they are for the next two years at the very least.

More realistically though they will probably be unable to trade Trouba and perhaps that's not the worst thing for such a young blueline anyway. But It makes sense then to trade Lundkvist for a position of need, possibly center help. They're going to need to get better at 5v5 to have any sort of consistent contention window and having a bit more of a balance in the forward group would probably be more useful in that goal than having two young defenseman duke it out for one third pair spot over the next couple years.

Same with regular season, starting off discombobulated. Everybody cold, kids & depth carrying us over till stars start showing up. Look out when flood gates open...

Trouba and Kreider will probably be traded in 2 years when their NMCs turn into 15 team no trade lists. That’ll clear 14.5 million to keep Kakko Laf Miller Lindgren and Schneider long term. Goodrow’s money could also be moved if need be in the next few years. Fox Igor Zib already have their long term deals. Luckily the kids probably don’t make that much money in the next 2 years unless someone decided to throw an over sheet at them.

Trouba's NMC is renegotiated after next season, and can be void.

You can't renegotiate contracts in the NHL so I have no idea what you are talking about. The only way to get out of it is if Trouba waives. Otherwise he's locked in through the end of the 2024 season, and then he has a 12 team no trade list through the end of 2026. The lack of signing bonuses will make him easier to find a trade partner but it's ultimately going to be up to him
