hes making 11 mil and was a PPG. leafs have zero leverage in literally any trade they make this summer. He also a a NTC which is more of a problem than realism

Ppg player gets traded as a cap dump. Seriously do you hear yourself?

Is he getting paid a bit much sure but you discount the return a bit not make it a complete cap dump

leafs have no cap space and have no leverage. what are you still confused about? gonna be 32 next season and has been slowing down every year for the past 5 seasons. He was below a PPG for like 4 of the last 5 on an offensive heavy team. So yes, he has positive value on another team but negative on the leafs. PPG players now a day get like 7-9. not 11 or at 32 years old

Still not a negative asset. He isn't signed to an insanely long term.

2 mil in cap space might cost you a 2nd, but a ppg player costs you multiple 1sts

What are you confused about?

You didnt. What aren't you following.

What would you give up for a ppg player making 9 mil?

Probably costs you multiple 1sts and some really good assets.

So to get to a JT trade what is the cost of that extra 2mil over what you would want to pay a player like that? Mayybe you discount the trade with a 2nd. You're not giving up surplus assets to trade a ppg player because they cost 2 mil more than what you'd like.

Lmao I understand the point of this is that it's a hypothetical and fun and what not but I am more just confused on where did this tavares to Chicago narrative come from.

Like why Chicago they are not good and are rebuilding why would they want a regressing 11 million dollar player to pair with their already 2 regressing 11 million dollar players lmao

because you can go out and sign a much better player for cheaper and younger in FA for 2-3 mil less….

well hawks get him just to retain and flip to rebuild. Assuming they move Kane and Toews, theyll need to find a way to use their cap to get to the cap floor and gain assets and value for their cap space

Kk good luck with that, because by that logic noone should trade anyone as they can just go sign an equivalent player in free agency, just like that

Chicago's eating some cap and getting some value out of it. One of the few things ACGM doesn't illustrate well is 3-way-deals where one team is just eating some cap and getting a pick out of it (ie, the Robin Lehner trade)

not at all true. but its called comparing contracts and it is used as leverage. I guarentee any team that would want tavares would be able to go sign Giroux to a 3 year (same as tavares) deal at under 11 mil, most definitely under 9 and probably around 7.5-8.

Leverage baby, leverage

Sure and what about the other 31 teams that don't sign giroux?

Ps giroux is also 3 years older than JT, so for someone so concerned about an apparent declining player you may want to take a closer look at Giroux

How has JT been getting worse for the past half decade and giroux hasn't?

JT P/60 last 5 seasons 3.1, 3.4, 2.9, 2.9, 3.2

Giroux P/60 last 5 seasons 3.7, 2.8, 2.4, 2.6, 2.7

You seem unable to realize when youre wrong about your view that JT is a negative asset. JT will be the same age Giroux is now when his contract expires, giroux will be 37.

Quit throwing stuff against the wall hoping it will stick.

i do not think you have any idea what youre talking about...
what do you want more: 11 mil or like 7-8 mil? which do you prefer. Hell even Kadri, Trochek, Forsberg, Gaudreau, Nichushkin and like 5 other FA are more cost effective than Tavares. Probably even more

Again, goodbye. We are wasting our time

lol ok goodbye. do you think EK65 will get value without retention? 11 mil contracts were a thing of 3 years ago. Players dont get that now.

You bring up the weirdest comparisons.

You act like JT hasnt been a PPG player in this league for pretty much his entire career and when provided with facts showing he hasn't really declined the last half decade as you said, you just go on a tangent about a player that has been injury prone for his entire tenure with the sharks, and has dropped off offensively 30%+

Can't even say goodbye and mean it. Heck you do it twice in one comment.
