Doesn't Dmitry have nmc, or NYC? Also I think you should take the Minnesota 1st round pick away from this

I'd be very upset if Ottawa made that deal.

Coming from the MN perspective, and I may be setting myself up for disappointment, but I would be very surprised to see anything go the other way other than Fiala and anything less than a 1st (could be the 23 pick) and one of those prospects. Not only surprised but disappointed as well.

In the end, one our expectations will be way off.

I'm not saying Fiala for our 1st + JBD would be unfair, I'm just saying it's not a move Ottawa should be making.

I know a lot of SENS fans are out of patience and want to do whatever it takes to push for the playoffs in 22-23. I personally feel it would be a mistake to trade what will be Cutter Gauthier or Matthew Savoie (let alone adding a solid prospect) for Fiala. Is he good? Absolutely. Is he good enough to make the SENS a playoff team next year? MAYBE, but I doubt it because it's not like TBL, FLA and TOR are suddenly going to crash and burn. And Fiala will command a hefty enough salary that we'll be feeling a pinch in two or three years which is when we'd truly be ready to contend. OTT needs a 2 to 3 year deal with a legit top 6 winger who plays a 200 foot game. By year 3 of that deal guys like Greig, Ostapchuk, Formenton, Mathieu, Cutter or Savoie, Boucher, Lodin... they could all be fighting for middle six/2nd line spots ... and guys like Tkachuk, Norris, Stützle and Batherson will be the veterans.

That’s a reasonable take. I think the fact you present a list of 8 guys with a range of ceilings, meaning the answer isn’t certain, is why a Fiala deal makes sense to me. But I get why you might not want to do it.

I actually put him with Kaprizov and Zuccarello to relieve pressure from him…figuring they could carry the line while Rossi gets used to the NHL.

I don't know... Meanwhile he's facing 1st pair defense instead of playing with Boldy who he played with in Iowa. I think Boldy Rossi Gaudreau could be really interesting

I'd have him with Boldy on the 3rd line so he doesn't get the opponents top-pair/shutdown line every shift. I'd also have him at wing so he can focus on the o-zone and transition game before the d-zone play.

I’ve considered both ideas myself and they are certainly good options!

I still think Rossi starts next year in the AHL.

Jost will get the first chance at replacing Fiala on the Boldy/Freddy G line. It'll only take Evason 60 or 70 games into the season to start to think about making a lineup change.

I’m not a Jost guy at all! He’s not nearly poised or creative enough to play a top 6 role and isn’t very effective as a bottom 6 guy. His only true value is his versatility…but at $2m per, he’s way overpayed!
