I'll admit I don't know too much about the Stars but it wouldn't surprise me if they take a different approach to strengthen their left side on offence.

i’d be kinda surprised if robertson took 8x8. i bet they bridge him around like 3x6.5-7 and then the stars go 8x9.5 or something with him once the cap goes up

I can see someone like Edmonton trying to steal Oettinger on a 6.16 million offer sheet (1st&3rd)

Theres a lot of teams that have a lot of cap that all need a goalie.

If Dallas wants to improve their left side, they just need to buy out Suter and place Miro on his natural side. This will also clear up a spot on the Top 4 for Harley.

Suter looked "somewhat decent" only because he was playing with Heiskanen.

After that, they need to shop/trade for two a RD since Kliingberg is likely gone.

This defense needs to be seriously refitted. If you don't believe me, just rewatch the game last night.

Heiskanen - New RD
Harley - New RD
Lindell - Jakanpaa

Dallas would match any offer. We have plenty of cap next year.

Dallas has about 9 to 10 mill for their entire roster after they extend Robertson. Ive shown Buffalo offering 8.2-8.5. That would leave Dallas with 2 million to fill out a minimum of 4 other spots, including resigning Gurianov, who at minimum, I believe, needs a QO of 2.55 or more. Not as easy as it looks

Certainly not easy. But Dallas will not let Otter go. They'll send Bishop's dead cap to someone who needs it. And no one is giving Oettinger 8.2 to 8.5. I love Otter, but it's not happening. At most someone might give him 5 mil. Dallas would move Gurianov too to keep Otter. Offer sheets don't happen often.

for 2 or 3 years, the Sabres could do it just to secure him and still be at the cap floor. What do they have to lose. Dallas still owes them anyway

Maybe. But you'd be giving up A LOT of picks. Owes them for what?

I would rather have a starting goalie and playoff appearances than picks. Dallas owes them for cheating still

Cheating? Even if that were true, no one is left on the Dallas roster or front office from 1999. It's moot.

That being said, no goalie has every gotten 8.2-8.5 at 23 years old. Not even 5 mil. The comparable is Vasilevsky at 3.5 mil when he signed at 23 years old. I will grant someone might entertain the idea of 5 mil for Otter. But if they do, Dallas will match.

Ya'll will not let it go will you? Be mad at the referees and the NHL, not Dallas. If the roles were reversed, you'd take the cup too. And honestly, it was a legal goal.

for the time period and the rule set it was not a legal goal, everyone aside from Hull has admitted that at this point

It's a good goal. Pretty sure the names are still on the cup.
