Why in the world do people think that teams pay assets for dead contracts? It has literally never happened once. Teams pay to get rid of those contracts, always.
Weber would cost at least a 2nd to move and thats if hes unofficially retired

Why would Mikheyev take 1.25Mil? He will probably get 2 to 3 times that.

Why do the Canes trade a 60pt winger with term for roster downgrades?

Canes don’t consider that trade. They are not downgrading their roster AND retaining on Turbo, who is a 60+ pt defensively responsible winger. Keep those assets and the Canes will keep the Turbo.

To put him on LTIR. I’m not 100% sure how it works but I’m pretty confident that if the player you put on LTIR would exceed the salary cap as a normal contract you get the exceeded amount of extra cap space. For example, if a team has 3M in cap space and they trade for an 8M contract and put it on LTIR they would get 5M of extra cap space. I’m not sure if this is how it works exacly but It’s along the lines of this.

it doesnt work like that, and even if it did you still have to pay a team to take the dead contract on LTIR. a team has never given up assets just to put a player on LTIR, never. one year of datsyuk's insured contract got the coyotes moved up in the 1st round to get chychrun. Seabrook got the bolts out of tyler johnsons contract, nathan horton's contract was uninsured so they traded it for david clarkson's insured contract so they werent footing the bill.
the habs will have to pay a good asset or two to move that long a deal even if the other team doesnt pay a cent out of pocket for it

Just say you dont understand Webers contract and move on

Also if traded, its the purpose to not have him on LTIR. Habs would just keep him if he was put on LTIR

i am very aware of his contract and how LTIR works. though it is very clear you didnt even try to understand what I wrote. If the habs want to trade webers contract, they will have to pay to do it. It is that simple. Teams to not pay to get other teams LTIR players. I dont care what Montreal wants to do with his contract, but if they move it, like so many people here say they do, they will need to pay in futures to do it

Now i know you dont understand his contract so ill explain it

Weber has a 7.857 million cap hit for another 4 years. But he is only owed 6 million in salary for those 4 years, Which means a team like Arizona can have a player give them 7.857 million in a cap hit for the next 4 years but only actually pay the player 6 million total. Thats a 25 million saving if they were to get any other players worth a total of 7.857 million cap hit every year for 4 years.

Hes not getting traded to be slapped back into LTIR because the Habs could just do it themselves.

Only teams near the cap floor will acquire him and they will pay what 25 million is worth in extra revenue in todays game. So about a 2nd or 3rd round pick

yeah, you arnt even trying to understand my point. LTIR or not, no matter the reasoning, the cap hit to salary difference, teams simply do not pay other teams to get bad, dead contracts. There has not been a single instance of a team ever doing that. the team getting rid of the contract always has to pay to move the contract in some way, shape or form. Be it an upgraded 1st rounder for datsyuk, an insured contract for an uninsured one in clarkson for horton or to switch a bad contract for a guy still playing for a pure LTIR wok around in Johnson for seabrook.
if the habs want to move weber, they will have to pay a team to do it
