DISCLAIMER:
---- This is not to be taken super seriously as in true ACGM patron fashion. I don't think every contract is realistic value or every trade is fair value, or every personnel movement is logistical. So don't act like it is. All I'm trying to display here, is who I'd like to see traded off, who I'd like to stay, and some names I'd like to see come play for us.----
Trade Comments:
TOR/ARZ- idk, probably have to send a first and another prospect to get Schmaltz, but its ACGM I'm not gonna analyze it that much, you get what I'm going for. O'Brien is a pretty tough role player who brings some usefulness to the defensive side of the game.
TOR/BUF- Just a dump of guys who won't make the team but might gain a pick finding a new home for.
TOR/LAK- Muzzin balances out LAK's defense, both parties would welcome a reunion, and Quick would be a good move for both teams ass LAK can clear some cap and we can get a serviceable goalie with cup experience. Andersson won't make the roster unless he really impresses but as an injury callup he would really being tenacity. Lemieux is a tough guy who isn't totally bad.
TOR/CHI- CHI could use a RHD, and this reunion makes it easy for both parties. They could also welcome Mrazek as every NHL goalie they have is a UFA this offseason. helps us clear cap and get a pick.
TOR/NSH- NSH needs scoring, we need a middle six defensive specialist. seems like a good match.
TOR/VAN- VAN loves hometown boys, and they might could jump at this if they are able to dump cap in other places. helps us get a pick and clear cap.
TOR/NYI- Tavares will never waive his NMC for anything. But going back to NYI is probably the only scenario where you could dream about it. Lou is on the chopping block, maybe he'd consider this Hail Mary. He's certainly dumb enough to. Dobson would be another huge part of that dream as well. Johnston is just an enforcer but he'd be a sick addition for toughness. Skill elsewhere in the lineup covers for it.
TOR/PIT- just a dump I made to clear the reserve list of guys who will probably never make it. Maybe one of them gets a 7th from somewhere in the league because someone sees something in them. IRL I'd just release their rights.
Free Agency:
-Athanasiou is a hometown boy who has had a tough couple seasons floating around with Detroit, Edmonton, and the Kings, but the skill is apparent and you could bring him home on a cheap deal. He could be a bunting-esque signing for scoring.
-Deslauriers is another tough guy but with all the skill in the lineup, you can afford to give him that spot in return for toughness.
-Ian Cole is a cup winner, world-class DFD who would really add a lot of defensive skill to this team. He'd probably sign for more money, but like i said, I'm not gonna over analyze this so much. you get who I'm going for.
-Nutivaara was injured all season but has been a class defenseman in the past. we could get him on a cheap deal, and he could warm back into being the good 4-5 defenseman he was while covering for injuries during the season.
-Rosen was always great with us. He's amazing for the Marlies or a serviceable injury call-up who knows the system and a lot of the team. I would love to see him brought back.
-Sustr is a huge physical guy who is a replacement level #6 at best, but could be an interesting experiment for the development staff. He's got tools you could squeeze a little more hockey out of.
-Lindgren has an interesting track record, and would be about the most exciting option you could get as a 3G.
Taxi Squad Explanation:
-I put those six players on the taxi squad because I wanted it to be displayed who would be forward callups in the event of injuries. I realize it's not in use anymore, So I am just using it as a display case. They will be between the NHL/AHL or claimed off waivers by other teams.
LMAO im sorry.
theres no chance in hell, that Tavares waives his full NMC to go back to NYI after the years of chants and "snake" comments and hate he got lol
The Kings want no part of that trade. They're not trading their starting goaltender, and best goaltender in franchise history. He's going to retire with the Kings.
They have no desire for a 2nd run with Jake Muzzin. They're looking at the future, and he's the past.
Hard pass from LA. They get absolutely nothing out of this trade, and they take on a significant amount of salary that prevents them from making the moves they actually do want to make.
I cannot imagine any world where that Islanders trade would even be considered. Even beyond the -obvious- reasons why Tavares to the Island wouldn't work, it also doesn't make sense for a team that already has 4 veteran centers signed with term to trade their best young player for another center to throw into that logjam. If Isles are making a big deal this offseason, it's going to be for someone to play LD2, or for a top 6 scoring winger.
Absolutely no interest in installing Jake Muzzin 2.0 even if he would waive his NTC, plus we could re-sign Alex Edler for less than Jake's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to re-acquire Muzz.
The idea that we'd trade our starting goaltender alone for that trash when he's a franchise icon in the last year of his contract is otherworldly.
Hawks aren't intrested in cap dumps and defensemen. We have Mitchell, Regula, and Crevier that are RHD and at least the first two will see time on the main roster next season. We can find a lower tier pair of goalies to help with the tank while the prospects develop
