I think you need to pay assets for someone to take on Khudobin’s contract. Can’t see Devils giving up anything for him.

- Anaheim isn't taking that contract
- You're going to have to pay a team to take Faksa's contract
- Not enough value for Toronto
- Going to have to pay a team to take on Khudobin's contract
- Dallas has too many old contracts on their books. Decline the Burns deal

All fair responses.

- Tough to find a spot for Sequin, though there are teams that need a 2nd C or 2-3 RW. Biggest question mark is wtf is up with him.
- I think yall sleep on Faksa. The only fanbase that doesn't like him is ours. Dude is solid on PK, wins faceoffs and does a good job shutting down top lines. He's perfect for a 3rd-4th line on Boston.
- How much are you willing to give up for Nylander? He on his own is not winning us the cup, just like he didn't for Toronto. So, what's the price?
- Khudobin is probably a buy out candidate tbh. I think the deadline was his best value. But, NJ got murdered in net once Blackwood went down. They need a legit reliable goalie behind him.
- I 100% hear you on contracts. Most of my maneuvering was to get us out from under some contracts that don't fit our team, but Burns doesn't fit that type. Dude is closer to Pavelski than he is Suter. He's got 1-2 years left at a top level.

Fair. Tough to find a landing spot for him. Y'all need a Vet 2nd Line Center, though - unless y'all are going for a longer rebuild (which is fine). I thought y'alls young talent on the wings gave him the best shot to wake back up. Much of Seguins drop off is due to our scheme. It's expecting the world of him to put up Seguin like numbers when the team spends 65% of the game in its own end.

If the Sharks are giving you a positive value player and retaining $6 million on said player, they aren’t gonna be adding more value the other way.

The problem is his cap hit versus his production. You can't have a guy that puts up all of 19 points in 77 games being paid like a guy that should put up 35-40 points. If he were producing like he did earlier in his career, it wouldn't be much of an issue but he's been on the decline for 3 seasons. If he were making about $1.5M less, almost anyone would take him for the reasons you cite and I doubt Dallas would retain on him for the next 3 years. It's just a harsh fact of life that players get paid for point production and Faksa doesn't have that anymore.

That's better than the $24M you currently are on the hook for. I get it, everyone values their players and doesn't want to give em away. But, y'all don't want a 37 YO $8M defenseman.

Lol. It's not horrible for SJ, it's horrible for you because you love Burns. Which is fair. You can emotionally value a player more than he's worth to your franchise. I feel the same about Benn. But, a 37 YO $8M defenseman on a team that needs to restructure its roster, is not what you think it is.

Sad, but very true. I thought $3.7M was steep when we signed him but he had just came off a monster year. Jim Nill has a little Jerry Jones in him - he likes to overpay his own guys. lol

But Dallas does not want a 9.5M 18 goal forward either. Burns has 8 more points then Benn and 5 more than Seguin. I think that is where a Dallas/SJ deal could be made. We have an extra expensive D men. You have 2 expensive inderperforming Forwards.

37 years old, played more minutes than any other player in the league this year by almost 100 and was 12th in scoring among defensemen. You can use the age argument when age is catching up to a player. It isn't with Burns so try a little harder next time you want to sound smart on the internet. Outscored both Benn and Seguin this year.
