That doesn't get Saros' autograph. Islander's probably decline too

Insanely hyperbolic. Thats 16 overall, a top 4 Dman, and another NHL caliber goalie. They just signed Askarov so its not like theyre downgrading

16OA and two guys who are UFAs at the end of this year is not enough for a top 5 goalie in the league on an incredible contract. even with assurance that both guys will sign it's not enough but without it it's not even close

Portillo isnt a ufa at the end of this year. Goalies dont have that much value and i can not remember a trade where a goalie brought in more

Lmao why would Nashville trade a top 5 goalie in the league for that.

It does nothing for them

NSH is deep in LD and goalie prospects. This leaves them without a starting goalie and doesn't address any organizational needs. Even if NSH were receiving enough value-wise here, they're not getting prospects that are of much value to them.

The fact you would go to twitter for your info, than the site you were already on that exists to answer these questions, is hilarious

So f*cking what? They're not going to throw away one of the best goalies in the league on a steal of a contract for that package.

A top 4 d-man and an NHL caliber goalie.....that have never played in the AHL let alone the NHL.

Not LD prospects, they have Askarov, and they can get a good forward prospect with the pick. It hits literally everything

bro bc capfriendly is wrong (or at least not fully right) on this one, it's been extensively reported on. if portillo chooses to leave school after his junior season, because he played a post-draft year prior to starting in the ncaa, he is a UFA. the sabres retain his rights if he returns to school for his senior year, and he's a UFA after that. it's the exact same situation as cal peterson.

You're going to have to give up much more for Saros. Ryan Johnson is a ufa in less than a year, he doesn't have near the trade value you're saying he does.

You know when they signed Saros? June of 2015. Did they trade Rinne back then? No they let Saros develop for years even after an outstanding rookie season in the AHL.
Askarov isn't even 20, it will be 3 years from now before he has a full time NHL position at the earliest, and even then will likely take a few years before he is a legitimate starter.

Johnson has zero professional experience, i wpuld hardly call him a top 4 defensemen

Yeah um....ideally a player demonstrates they can play in the NHL level before you proclaim they're NHL caliber players.

With Farrance, Davies, Del Gaizo, Wilsby, Stastney, Chistyakov, Olsson they're going to run out of room for their LD prospects. Don't forget Josi and Ekholm have a lot of term, so there's not much room for any of them in NSH anytime soon. It's RD prospects NSH lacks, and BUF doesn't have any notable ones.

Yes NSH has Askarov - a goalie prospect considered to be better than the one you're offering - but they have Ingram and Haider too, who are both crushing their development. NSH is one of the few teams that has a better goaltending future than BUF.

When a mid 1st in a weak draft is the most enticing piece you're offering, you're probably not going to land the young Vezina candidate on a bargain contract you're chasing.

FWIW, this isn't accurate either. 9th youngest team in the NHL this season.
