Why is this specifically the team that you'd cheer for? and why wouldn't you cheer for Matthews

@LaffsFan
This is the team I would cheer for because they have some of my favourite players like J.T. Miller, James Reimer, Ryan McDonagh and Phil Kessel added to a team with Morgan Rielly, William Nylander and David Kampf.
The reason I traded Matthews away is because it was the easiest solution to solving the cap problem. I get that the trade would be very stupid to so many, but I thought it seemed smart as we now free up cap to take on more players.
@Drambui
In what way would this team miss the playoffs? We've got goal scoring potential from Nylander, Tavares, van Reimsdyk and Kessel(hopefully), we have versatility from Marner, Miller and Kampf, we've got goaltending from Reimer, Campbell and Kallgren, and then we have defense from McDonagh, Rielly, Lybushkin and Manson. So what do you want me to do to improve the team?

You traded away the top scorer in the league and a promising rookie. Keep in mind that Matthews wouldn't perform too well without Marner, so I think you could trade Marner in a trade tree with CBJ and ARI to give them Marner and CBJ a First for Laine and Chychyrun, with Arizona giving CBJ Keller. Plus, Colorado and Philly probably wouldn't accept the trades. I would recommend throwing in Holl or Lyubushkin. On top of this, quite a few of the players will be asking for raises, who would you end up letting go of? I would suggest getting rid of Holl, Pitlick and Pearson for some promising rookies next year. Perhaps offer up Holl to the Wild for Jordie Benn? You could also get VAN to retain Miller's salary for a 3rd rounder or even a second-round pick. You also could throw in a second round pick with Mrazek to ensure that Seattle accepts and don't retain his salary.
