I don't see what MTL win in this downgrade trade. They adding money on there cap space which need to be reduced and lost a good fourth or third center man who could be a good defensive player

Helps bolster their blueline since Petry seems to want out

Before even thinking doing this trade I would prefer to overpay to try getting Letang from Penguin. Also in Ufa there more interesting d-man cheaper them Myers. Or in the end just give the spot to a youngster before to Myers

What if there are no youngsters ready for an everyday spot? Who could the Habs target that is cheaper and more "interesting", whatever that means, than Myers?

High price option but add biggest impart on the team (best to remplace Petry role) Letang or Klingberg

Mid option who gonna cost around 4 to 5 m may not totally remplace Petry but bring good defense and physicality on ice, Manson or bring back Chariot

Cheap option but can bring experience like Grudbanson or Yandle or maybe Zadorov. I don't see them being pay more than 2m or even less. They're not the fastest but still could help prepare a youngster to be NHL ready.
