'includes extension" for a guy who will be 30 and the extension will be massive is not really a good thing

Of course. But I'm assuming this trade doesn't get done without one. Unless you're saying the Leafs shouldn't be interested in Miller which is understandable.

How is our return better? We're eating Mrazek's contract too. The pick Canucks are getting is 12th overall and Texier was a top-6 + PK center/winger on pace for 45 points as a 22-year-old.

I'd rather keep Miller IMO. Way better fit for the team right now when compared to Nylander.

But also I'd swap Boqvist in for Tex and keep Christiansen. Maybe add in a Bemstrom

but that's just it, it doesnt really get done with it. the difference between miller and nylander is already razor thin at best and they'd still need to add another top 6 player and this would hammer them down to even less cap space next year and beyond for a guy in the fall off a cliff age group.
the leafs should be interested in miller, but to add to their core, not replace one.

I was thinking it was a different style they were going for. Miller plays center so they can move Tavares to the wing and he's more physical which I know is overrated but I've seen some Leafs fans posting that they need that element to the core. In terms of the cap, this is why I'm taking Mrazek off your hands, so even with the extension it will be net savings. 7+3.8 is 11.8M going back to Columbus.

I think it makes sense for the jackets, only if Miller is extended as part of the deal. Also we’d need to keep Miller. As he’s a center and that’s exactly what we are looking for.

The Nylander part doesn’t make sense tho. We need centers and defenseman and Willy only has 2 years left and probably wouldn’t resign.
Also I completely understand wanting the youth to play, but Gus had 50 points last year after like 4 points in the first 20 games. No shot he’s in the press box.

He's not in the press box haha. I just put him there assuming he's getting moved at the deadline. Should've clarified that.

Getting a 1st for Miller is nice but we are looking for 3 "A" pieces for Miller, in terms of CBJ there isn't anyone who we would have interest at 12 that won't be there at 15, Nylander can atleast come in right away and be a 60-70 point guy, Don't think Texier will be that anytime soon his numbers really don't jump off the page for me and honestly their wouldn't be room for him in our top 6 for him to develop

Fair enough. I can't tell with you guys whether the plan is to stay the course or re-tool haha.

Fair enough, honesty i think we are just going to stay the course, We showed alot of promise under Boudreau i am pretty sure the plan is just to trim the fat

If boqvist goes in then we probably pass on Miller. We’re not going to trade a position of weakness, especially when the player is young, for a player with an expiring contract, who could be had in the off-season for free.

True, however that price becomes too steep. I’d do boqvist without the first rounder if that’s better but not both.
So a package of boqvist and texier for Miller extended. 8.5x7 years.

Yeah idk, Jarmo has a ton of options this summer with our picks in the draft and really good prospect pool. If we are able to draft Nemec or Jireck with the 6th overall maybe we can trade Boqvist (who has had injury problems, but has been our best offensive defensemen when healthy) idk if VAN takes Bean + 12th overall + Bemstrom? Bean seems like the odd man out now that we have Blanks. So maybe we can package a Bean + Bemstrom/Foudy + 12th overall to upgrade the team with miller or someone dif.

Yeah they can, it's just trickier. And even if they couldn't, a guy who isnt much of an upgrade doesnt get them anywhere

I’m my opinion, I don’t think Miller makes it to free agency. If he gets traded, a team will be paying a lot to acquire him so I’d doubt they’d just let him go they easily. Most likely he signs with the team that trades for him

Screw Nylander, Miller is the more complete player, just keep him in this situation, plus he’d be the top line center Columbus has needed for a while.
