Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2022
Published: May 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
this is gonna be very tight with the cap, but if kakko accepts a 2 year bridge deal, it could work. getting those buyouts off the books for 23-24, should help out massively, especially if the cap goes up.

Kakko could easily sign an offersheet for like 4.2 somewhere else for 3 years and put the rangers in a bad situation. Gonna have to up the offer

i mean we saw Carolina do it. I doubt it happens but I expect to see Hague and/or Roy get OS, so maybe it starts something

CAR did it to get back at MTL for trying. There’s a lot of good players out there to be signed as is, I think most are going to for on FA that you don’t lose draft capital to sign.

That's not enough to get any team to take Nemeth.

Try again.

NYR would match any offer up to 6.16 M per....realistically I can't see any team offering the upper end of that Comp tier- except on a 1 year deal (like CAR did)....in any case, NYR would match. Of course they would have to make a move or two elsewhere (which they weren't planning to make)- but they would do what they have to do to keep Kakko if the compensation is a 1st, and 3rd (or less). Beyond 6.16 per, they would consider the compensation. You do have to realize, though that OS's are not common- even though there are very vulnerable teams every year. GMs seem to be in a "club"- so they don't look to play dirty. But hey- if any team wants to "poke the bear", what comes around goes around- and NYR CAP situation is temporary...yet the NYR ownership has very deep pockets.

you have to remember he hasn't really done much so far. it's actually good that he hasn't done what jack hughes did, cause then there's no way we'd be able to resign guys like copp and blais. ideally he'd sign a 2 year contract under 4M before becoming an RFA

he will most likely sign a 2 year deal at like 1.5 mil then 4.5 mil so his RFA minimum number will be 4.6 or so. 3 mil AAV cap hit but he will still make sure to be getting paid in a few years. Same concept as Boeser, McAvoy and Point
