I thought it was enough that they moved up for like the 5th time in 10 years.

I personally would not do that deal (Montreal shouldn't be trading next years first round pick), but props to you for the appropriate thread title!

I want to win a lottery pick the year a generationnal talents is there for picking... Everytime will end up in the bottom... we get a Galchenyuk and a Kotkaniemi. I want a Draisalt, a McDavid or a Matthews - somebody that can break a game.

I don't know... the 1OVR doesn't seem that exciting this year. But somehow the top 5 is great... I just feel doomed to pick Wright... whose giving me MAJOR Yakupov vibes.

How is he like Yakupov? His point production isn't the best possible because he is basically the only good player on his team. Since he is good defensively, he needs to be the shutdown guy. And he still puts up some decent points. At MTL his D ability won't be close to as necessary because we have Suzuki and Evans who already do that.

Understandable I guess but it would be stupid to trade next years pick especially when Bedard and Michkov are the top 2 prospects in next years draft. Also I think Shane Wright is pretty good I knew a guy from high school that played against him in the OHL cup finals a couple of years ago when he was on the Don Mills Flyers hes pretty good I really hope he dosent become Yakupov 2.o tho lol. Also maybe put him on a line with Caufeild or something.

Wright is much better than Yakupov. Doesn't even play similar. He also didn't play last year and still finished top 10 in points in the league as an 18 year old.

Guys this is not 1st OVA for 2nd OVA, this is 2nd OVA for Montreal's 2023 1st round pick. So Montreal ends up with 1st and 2nd OVA but no chance at a lottery pick next year. For the record I would do Montreal's 2023 1st round pick (top 5 protected) for New Jersey's 2022 1st (2nd OVA) but not without the protection.

No, we shouldn’t do that deal because the likelihood is that the pick will be high again next year. I agree we need a winger but I have concerns about Slafkovsky and his meteoric rise. He looks good from the small sample I’ve watched, but risking a Bedard, Michkov or Fantilli? No thanks.

Remember, we finish last and we get a top-3 pick automatically. For me, if it isn’t Bedard we get, I want Fantilli: power forward, goal scorer. He’s a centre, but I think he’ll be better as a finishing winger for Wright/Suzuki. He plays the left side and perhaps with a line of Fantilli-Suzuki-Caufield, they’d be unstoppable.

A Farrell-Wright-Roy line would be incredible too.

Devils say yes
If Montreal is as bad as they were this year (highly doubt that), the pick could turn out to be Bedard, Michkov or Fantilli
