This isn't "Weaponizing" cap space this is utilizing cap space.
Weponizing cap space would be like taking on Mrazek and a 2nd or Lucic and a 1st for a mid level prospect/ late pick.

I wouldnt call this weaponizing cap space. You didnt get any assets for taking on cap dumps

Weaponizing cap space usually means taking advantage of other teams by taking cap dumps and gaining assets in the process. Its what ARZ did with Gostisbehere, Stralman, Ladd, etc last year

yea you Utilized the cap to get a FA and its going to be more like 3+ not 2 years same for Letang BTW.
Weaponizing the cap space is taking picks and assets for taking on a cap hit like a 3 way deal where you retain cap or taking on a heavy contract for assets.

again you utilized the cap space to get him not weponized it.
if you were say a 3rd party that retained half of Kane salary for picks that’s weponizing cap space.
