Is Gaudreau signs for that AAV, its with Calgary over 8 years. No way he signs for less than 10.5 for 7 years

I'll start with the trades.

I think you could get a little bit more for Zucker. Not saying he's worth a ton but I bit more than a fourth. Whatever though it's easy to mock that exact same trade as a third or something. Tbh I think the trades are all pretty fair. Maybe a little cheap in terms of the returns on some but not far off.

My real issue with this roster is essentially your Fleury and Klingberg AAVs.

I'll start with Klingberg. He's asking for 7+ mil. Do I think he's worth 7+ mil? Hell no. Do I think he's worth 4.8mil? Yep. But there is no way in hell you can sign Klingberg for 4.8mil this offseason. Cheapest I think you could snag him for is 6.5mil if he decides to take a discount to a team that he REALLY wants to go to, but I doubt that happens. Besides, even at 6.5 I'd call it an overpay.

Next is Fleury. Why on earth do you think it would cost him 6.5mil?? Pretty much everywhere I look I see people mocking him to their team for anywhere from 2mil to 4mil at absolute most. You could essentially take this exact same roster, and scratch 3 mil off of Flower and attach it to Klingberg, and then you have a more realistic roster.

I think if you could literally copy and paste this exact roster onto next season, we'd be in a real good spot. I don't hate this team, I just think you messed up on the AAVs for two players, but that would be easy to flip around.

I think the Malkin AAV is very realistic, and I think the Jarnkrok and Vatrano signings would be real good. Obviously they'd be a downgrade on Rak and Rust but that would be made up for by the obvious splash signing of Johhny Hockey (who I also think 9.4mil is a good aav for.)

Overall. It's a good roster. I think the pens would be in a good spot with this team.

Says who though. I live in Calgary, and literally everywhere I look in the media, nobody is saying he "wants to stay" for a discount. If anything, I could see him re-signing here for 10.5mil, and going somewhere else he prefers for 9.5 mil. I'm not saying Pittsburgh is his preferred choice but yeah, I think there is basically 3 options for Johnny. He'll either take a mid 9s cap hit to go somewhere he LOVES to be. He'll get a MASSIVE contract from some desperate team and it will be too much to say no to, or he'll squeeze the Flames for some money, basically telling them "pay up for me or I'll walk" which I think they will.

Idk where you are getting this "Johnny would only take a paycut to stay in Calgary" stuff from, cause I haven't seen it anywhere.

Montreal doesn't have the cap space or the need for Zucker.
