It makes perfect sense, you get a 2nd line centre, two bottom six wingers that add the grit we will need and a RHD who can possibly be the next top pairing RHD. I’d much rather keep Scheif than Dubois

It makes no sense. They don’t need to choose between scheifele and Dubois lol. Dubois is a perfect player for trotz. Also the trade is just awful. I just don’t understand the logic of downgrading at 2C to acquire another small RHD that probably never sniffs the top pair.

Chytil is half as much money and starting to play his best hockey. We can’t pay two centres 8 million or more a year, which is what it’s going to cost to pay both.

Sabres aren’t gonna have interest in bringing in Wheeler
And you’re gonna have to pay 1sts- plural- to get a team to consider taking on all the Cap left in his contract
$16.5mil over 2years is no joke
And there’s only a handful of teams that could even do it

Anyways, Sabres pass unless you’re actually willing to give us something of legitimate value

That will never ever happen. You aren’t getting multiple firsts ever when you are getting a cap dump let alone Wheeler who is still a force as far as scoring goes. I’d much rather keep him than do that

Trotz would be nice, but the Jets need to avoid these trades like the plague.

You for sure can pay two C’s 8 million. Not sure why you think you can’t. Especially when you have KC and Ehlers on the deals they’re on. Plus you didn’t even move Schmidt.

Where’s the 2nd line center? I don’t see one.

Please gawd no I hope they don't hire Trotz though it sounds like its gonna happen, he's such a bad fit for this group but TNSE needs an offseason win and this dumb fan base loves Trotz for some reason, this weird desperate need to have a Manitoban player on the team really needs to stop but I guess Trotz fills that need for a local guy... 🙄

That Rangers trade is horrible value for what the Jets are giving up.

No one will want Wheeler, doubtful they'd even consider trading him anyway.

I totally agree that it is a bad fit with the current makeup of the roster, we don't have the solid defensive players that the Islanders have. I would much rather them just bring in a player that just recently retired like what the Canadians did with MSL, someone like that who just finished playing would get the most out of our young guys. I really wanted Lane Lambert but that option is now gone so it will probably be Trotz. I won't be super angry if Trotz is our new HC, but I do think there are other coaches who would be a better fit.

The Sabres won't even be close to sniffing cap trouble for at least two years. I don't know if I like the poster's trade, but they absolutely should consider something like this and 2 1sts is a crazy ask. Get assets at the expense of Terry's bank account while we still can

Wheeler’s cap is over $8mil per year
We aren’t just gonna do them a favor for free
They’re gonna have to pay for it
The Pegulas aren’t just gonna she’ll out 16.5mil as a favor

I didn't say any of that. They should look to use their cap space to take a solid veteran leader on a bad contract because his actually cap hit is completely irrelevant for the term that is left. And yes, they should be compensated to take that congract as well. "Something like this" is what I said. What you said is we'd need two 1st round picks, and that is a completely crazy ask
